Hello to all MatM fans,

reissue of 'Danseparc' is over! June 25th.

When ordering, please indicate if you wish to have Martha and Mark
personally autograph your CDs as well. To take advantage of this
advance offer and buy 'Danseparc' now, see the ordering info below.
Please note: We will be offering several MatM albums including
'Danseparc' and our upcoming album 'Delicate' online in the near
future but this offer is only currently available via mail order
directly from Muffin Music.

OTHER NEWS

Although our new album, 'Delicate', has taken us a while longer to
record than we had planned, we are finally nearing the mixing
stage. Renowned producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, King
Crimson,Tool), will be mixing it with us in the early autumn with a
tentative release date sometime in Oct/Nov. 2008. After two and a
half years of writing and recording, we are very excited about the
album and hope you will be too.

For those of you living in the Toronto area, Mark Gane will be part
of the Luminato Festival's Queen Street West Celebration as a member
of a Q & A panel discussion about the early days of the Queen St. W.
punk/new wave scene. Saturday, June 7th, 7:30p.m. at the Ontario
College of Art and Design auditorium, 100 McCaul St., Toronto, ON
For more information about the Luminato Festival visit www.luminato.com

Thanks for your continuing interest in the band! Updated website and
new myspace page coming soon...

MARTHA AND THE MUFFINS / M+M DANSEPARC
#65532;

"Danseparc…is an impressive attempt to put full-fledged
philosophical concepts into a popular music form, and a giant step
forward for the band that has continually proved itself one of the
most forward thinking in Canadian pop music."
Liam Lacey, GLOBE AND MAIL, February 26, 1983

"…Danseparc…is simply one of the most satisfying albums of the
year…From the evocative, Vaseline-lens treatment of the title cut to
Walking Into Walls' classic '80s dialogue to Johnson's wry commentary
on What People Do For Fun, the group addresses rarely-mined
contemporary topics with disarming precision and unassailable
musicality."
Alan Kellogg, EDMONTON JOURNAL, April 7, 1983

“Every once in a while an album is released that is void of
pretense, sparked with an effervescent originality, injected with
real power, true emotion and sarcastic intelligence, bursting at its
seams with thumping atomic energy…Danseparc…is such an album."

Gorman Belhard, WATERBURY AMERICAN, June 9, 1983

“Plenty of great noise abounding here, especially on the aptly
titled ‘Obedience’ and the bongo-driven ‘Boys In The
Bushes’…’I am using you, am I amusing you?’, coos the
cucumberly Ms. Martha while keyboards swirl, guitars scratch and
guest saxophones wail all around..."

CREEM MAGAZINE, Sept. 1983

Yes, Danseparc is finally coming out again. As this was my suggestion through Cherry Red, I was originally tagged to do the remastering. I was happy to forego that project when Mark Gane informed CR he wanted to go back to the original studio master tapes and start from scratch, which he did on his own (and good for him!) So now here it is.

Also, during conversation with Mark Gane around a year ago (through a rep. from CR), he stated that EMI Canada were going to be reissuing Trance and Dance, which is part of the reason I asked CR to pursue Danseparc instead. Trance and Dance is my favorite M+M album, but not having heard anything new since the original comment, I am hoping it is still scheduled to happen.

Yes, Scott, if you can get some more detailed ordering and payment info please let us know. I'm pretty sure you can't send a US postal money order or personal check to Canada so this could be a bit of a pain. As you well know this is my favorite M+M LP so I must have it. Thanks in advance for any help.

I received this email from Noble PR (UK) today:

For immediate release -

After 25 years, the wait for the reissue of Martha and the Muffins#146; Danseparc is over. Stockhausen collides with punk funk in an aural collage of rhythm and found sound as the second most fan requested Martha and the Muffins album gets officially reissued and digitally re-mastered 25 years after its 1983 vinyl debut.

The fourth album from the Muffins canon, the second of three production collaborations by the now legendary and critically acclaimed producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Peter Gabriel), Danseparc will be reissued by Cherry Red for the very first time on CD in the UK and Europe on Monday 4th August 2008.

The digitally remastered 25th Anniversary edition of Danseparc will be the first of two major releases from the Muffins this year. In November, the band will release their brand new studio album Delicate, mixed by David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Tool).

Read the online press release - http://www.noblepr.co.uk/Press_Releases ... uffins.htm

With songs written and performed by original founding Muffins, Martha Johnson (vocals, inverse guitar, keyboards, percussion) and Mark Gane (guitars, vocals, keyboards, percussion and treatments), Danseparc also features Daniel Lanois' sister, Jocelyne Lanois (bass) and Nick Kent (drums). Hailed as their most quintessential collection of songs to date, this beautifully packaged 25th Anniversary Edition CD edition captures the Muffins at their creative peak.

I take it there was no love for the One Way reissue (Danceparc + Mystery Walk)?

I'm holding out for The World Is a Ball on CD...
