from Cerysmatic:

"Corrected New Order Rhino reissues out April
Warner/Rhino customer service is advising that corrected versions of last year's New Order remasters will be released in April."

Rhino subsequently made the following statement:

"Warner Bros. UK, Rhino and New Order regret that the initial pressings of the Collector Editions of "Movement", "Power, Corruption & Lies", "Low-Life", "Brotherhood" and "Technique" contain some minor audio problems on the bonus discs. We are now in the process of correcting the problems, but it should be noted that due to the age and condition of some of the original source tapes, the sound quality may vary. A further statement will be issued once the corrected product is available. At that time, the procedure for exchanging CD's will be announced. Thank you for your patience while we resolve this situation."

Good news. I've been waiting to hear before I pick them up. Thanks.

Hope they put a big sticker on the front of them to say they have been fixed. I wonder if all those people who bought the first batch will be able to exchange them for the fixed versions i'm just glad i held off buying them.

I'm waiting for the re-re-re-issues, as I'm sure the re-re-issues will be flawed in some way.

Before I invest in these, I'd like to know what they mean by "corrected." Did they find all the original master tapes? Or did they just clean the pops and clicks from the same sources?

If they have found the original master tapes they better be giving the albums away for free that's all i can say.

Any updates on whether the replacements for these will be available, if at all?

They are advertising the remasters to be released on 16th june 2009 on amazon.com saying they are imports. Wether these will be the fixed ones or not who knows. I would also like to know why they are claiming them to be imports. Imports from where exactly ? because they are not listed on amazon uk.

Our import supplier is specifically listing the import versions that moni spoke of as being "corrected" versions to be released June 16th. Good news, kind of...

Rhino/Warner in their infinite wisdom decided to keep the same UPC codes as last year's import versions with the 'mastering' problems. So, unless the product has a sticker on it specifying "corrected" version, you could very well get a copy of the original version if it was still in circulation.

This is only for the imports, but it's safe to guess domestic "corrected"'s would be solicited in a month or two.

As i feared, not only do the import 'corrected' versions of the New Order reissues have the same UPC codes as the previous edition, there's nothing to indicate that it truly is 'corrected'. We received one edition of Power Corruption and Lies today - It could be the corrected version.... or it could be the original edition. There's not way to tell from looking at the packaging.

Looks like only thing to do is check CD matrix numbers on Disc Two. Does anyone have the import version (UPC 825646936984) of the original version of PCL from 2008? If so, can you share the matrix number of Disc 2?

The matrix on the edition we received today is: 256469369-8/2.2 V02 MNB.

Certainly that V02 sounds encouraging, but do retailers and consumers have to open every release to find out!!??!!?

I have the original import of PCL. The matrix number on CD2 is DIFFERENT: 256469369-8/2 V01 PHL

I just received word from an Email response from Rhino Records it reads

"Thank you for your email and your patience. The replacement New Order discs are scheduled to become available on 8/25/09. Also at that time, the 5 albums will be re-released to retail outlets, with upgraded audio

If you would like to receive corrected replacement discs, please reply to this email with your name, shipping address, a list of the discs that you need replaced and a digital photo of your discs. We will send out your replacements as soon as possible.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding in this matter."

so there you go if you want replacement discs I guess you will need to email and take pictures of your physical discs and cover.

Cool. Then you can buy the original screw-ups, then get the replacement discs, and have both.
