Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark Remasters

Does anyone know if the albums from Junk Culture onwards are getting re-issued/re-mastered? I have the first 3 re-issued CDs, and was pretty pleased with how they turned out.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on these. According to Andy Mcluskey on the OMD forum there are no plans to remaster the rest of their back catalogue. Shame as the sound quality on particulary Sugar Tax is horrible.

That’s a shame. Personally, I’d like to see them re-issued the way I’ve got them set up as playlists on my iPod:

10. Talking Loud And Clear
11. Locomotion (Extended Version)
12. Her Body In My Soul
13. The Avenue

15. Julia’s Song (Extended Version)
16. Tesla Girls (Extended Version)
17. Garden City

20. Wrappup
21. (The Angels Keep Turning) The Wheels Of The Universe

Crush

1. So In Love
2. Secret
3. Bloc Bloc Bloc
4. Women III
5. Crush
6. 88 Seconds In Greensboro
7. The Native Daughters Of The Golden west
8. La Femme Accident
9. Hold You
10. The Lights Are Going Out
11. So In Love (Extended Version)
12. Concrete Hands
13. Concrete Hands (Extended Version)
14. Maria Gallante
15. So In Love (Brand New Extended Mix)
16. Secret (Extended Mix)
17. Drift
18. La Femme Accident (12”)
19. Firegun

The Pacific Age

1. Stay (The Black Rose And The Universal Wheel)
2. (Forever) Live And Die
3. The Pacific Age
4. The Dead Girls
5. Shame
6. Southern
7. Flame Of Hope
8. Goddess Of Love
9. We Love You
10. Watch Us Fall
11. (Forever) Live And Die (Extended Mix)
12. This Town

I guess I'll stick with these...

D'oh! How could I forget Dazzle Ships. One of my favourites. I'm not bothered about anything after The Pacific age, although I have the original issues of the later albums.

At the time, I quite liked the Pacific Age. I wouldn't mind a remaster of it just for the 12" mixes of (Forever) Live and Die. I can't remember offhand if it's on any CDs. Having a proper CD version of If You Leave 12" on CD would be okay with me, as well. The one on Classic Alternatives 4 (?) was sourced from vinyl or was missing the intro or something.

BTW, What did you think of Universal? I don't like all the tracks on it (there's a lot of tracks on it), but I really like a third of them, and another third, I think are okay.

Lerxst, if those albums were released the way you have your tracklistings, I'd buy them in heartbeat.

I'm with you on Universal. The only tracks from that album on my OMD playlist are the title track, Walking On The Milky Way, The Moon & The Sun, Too Late and New Head.

The only post-Paul Humphreys album I can listen to all the way through is Sugar Tax. I love the track of the same name and could never understand why it wasn't on the album.

The album I listen to most (even now) is probably Organisation. I had the LP, then the cassette (because it had the extra tracks), then the original CD with the bad mastering on The Misunderstanding'. Can't think of many other albums I've bought 4 times!

Me too! I'd just like to have a complete set, like they're doing with the Ultravox albums. I like the way they've been released on 2 discs, with the original album on disc 1 and all the B-Sides, rarities and live tracks on disc 2.

Both mixes of (Forever) Live and Die have been released on cd. The normal 12 inch version is on the cd single of Shame. The other John Tokes Potoker remix which the band didn't like appears on a french compilation from last year called Maxi Singles 80 Volume 2. Universal is one album i really like especially after that crap Liberator album and i thought it was fitting that they went out on a high note. I do hope they remaster the rest of their back catalogue or at least release a double album of original 12 inch mixes.

I WANT "CRUSH" REMASTERED WITH BONUS TRACKS!

yes, i do.

i was listening to this cd the other day and it's remarkable how dull sounding and quiet it is. no punch, no highs, no lows, all mids. i'm talking about the mastering, not the songs! the music is fantastic. but it sounds like poo, as lots of cd's not mastered for cd did in the 80's. ho hum.

BTW, people may not like the post Paul OMD as much, but the videos sure are a lot better [:)].

Has anyone seen this double-disc set:

http://www.thefirstcut.net/catalog/album_21962.htm
http://www.thefirstcut.net/catalog/album_21963.htm

I'm sure it's a bootleg, but it's one of the best bootlegs I own. The CDs are actually factory pressed (not CD-Rs) and the artwork is all commercially printed. I bought the set from someone in Brazil who claims they are official releases (again, I'm sure they're not), but the sound quality is superb. It is (as far as quality is concerned) in all aspects worthy of being an official release.

Think of it as the OMD equivalent of the Pet Shop Boys' "Aurally" series bootlegs. Top notch all the way.

I still see them being sold now and again on eBay.

I'm suprised the person selling these doesn't get done for breaking the trade desciptions act. There is no way this is official and to use the A&M Records logo to make it look so is shocking. Isn't he selling China Crisis and Tears For Fears remix collections as well or was anyway. In saying this and contradicting myself a bit now if OMD or the record label more so won't release something like this then good on him and i have d/l a copy of this and the sound quality is good.
