Animotion - 2009 reissues

Great news just received from Cherry Pop! The first two albums by Animotion ("Animotion" from 1984 + "Strange Behavior" from 1986) will be reissued later in 2009. Each will be fully remastered and contain bonus remixes, plus liner notes etc.
The first album will have both versions of 'Let Him Go' - the original album version, and the remixed 1985 single version included.

sounds good, but aren't pretty much all of their 12" remixes available on the Obession: Best of compilation they released, which also included the single mix of Let Him Go?

I'd love remasters of these, but if it's another Cherry Red botch job from vinyl sources, I'll be disappointed (see my comments regarding Belouis Some). The Fashion Twilight Of Idols is OK, so perhaps there's hope.
I had One Way thisclose to reissuing the first album back in 2003, with the paperwork all ready to go, but then the label folded.

Hi -
I'm working with Cherry Pop on the Animotion project (writing sleeve notes, compiling the tracks, supplying sleeves etc. for the booklet)...I can confirm that these releases will definitely NOT be vinyl rips. They will be fully digital sources and remastered by Tim Turan who did the amazing Cherry Pop remasters for Kim Wilde's first 3 albums recently.
The original album version of 'Let Him Go' is the difficult one to find, as many of the CD pressings had the remixed 7" included instead. There will be ALL of the 12" remixes included this time around - not just the 4 from the 'Best Of' CD from a few years back.
So great news all round, and I'll keep you posted when we know some more.

Hopefully Cherry Red won't include horrible photographs of damaged picture sleeves this time around. Seems to be a problem with so many reissues and not just Cherry Red.
All the best,

They weren't from the master tapes though, were they? The booklet doesn't even credit any remastering at all.

Confirmed bonus tracks for the Cherry Pop Animotion reissues:
'Animotion' (1984)
- Obsession (7" Version)
- Obsession (12" Remix Version)
- Obsession (12" Dub Version)
- Let Him Go (7" Remixed Version)
- Let Him Go (12" Club Mix)
'Strange Behavior' (1986)
- I Engineer (12" Remix Version)
- I Engineer (Dub Version)
- Obsession (1986 Remix)
- I Want You (Dub Mix)
- I Want You (7" Remix)
Unfortunately owing to running time constraints the 'I Want You (Club Mix)' has been removed from the 'Strange Behavior' release.
The artwork looks amazing, with extensive sleeve notes and single sleeves - just awaiting the masters now to sign these off. Release date TBC shortly.

due to time constraints they leave out the 12" version of I Want You and include the DUB??? Brilliant decision.
For those who already own the original pressings of these CDs, along with the Obsession Best of Collection, not to mention numerous appearances of various mixes of Obsession on other new wave compilations, everything on these reissues is old news on CD. Guess it's good for those who never picked them up the first time.

Those extras look great, Thorpy2112. The dub mixes are the best bits. Good job including them. How about replacing the Let Him Go 12 Inch with the Dub Mix though....Two more reissues for the want list.

Good to see these on Amazon and Play.com - and the release date of 17th August confirmed.
Bill Wadhams is also fully aware of these reissues, and will shortly be putting information about them on the band's official website:
www.animotionlive.com
Hope you enjoy them once they're in your hands, and it'll be interesting to read the comments here and on other sites...no doubt good and bad (can't please everyone)!
Cheers

So...I'm in LA for the long weekend and stopped by Amoeba, one of the best stores on the planet. I wasn't planning on buying any more Cherry Red stuff after the Belouis Some debacle, but I traded in some CDs (all stuff I had received free recently) and I had a good amount in trade credit, so I picked these up. For the most part, they sound good...except for the "Obsession" 12" mix, which is clearly a vinyl rip. You can totally hear it when the song starts. Pretty disappointing, but I shouldn't be surprised. At least I didn't spend any actual cash on these. The other tracks sound decent (so far).
I know, I should complain to Cherry Red, but who has time for that?
