Let's hope its "12" versions that really, seriously, absolutely have NEVER been on CD before." Now that's a title I'd like to see numerous volumes of...

Yes indeed. Or at least a smattering of rare ones!
Have done some digging from Universal and allegedly its going to be early 80's synth/electro based - can't find out the tracks yet though - will persist and find out!

Actually, to this day, I'm trying to figure out why a 12" single (reissue) of "Fade to Grey" that I have is a completely different mix than ANY 12" version that has ever been issued on a compilation. I don't know WHERE the vinyl mix I have originated.

Better this than more 80's dance.
I heard that next installment is on the way soon.

dunno if this helps but the original 12" version released at the time of it being a 'hit' was about 6.17 and wasn't much more than the single version repeated twice - the version we keep hearing was was the dance mix which was included on the singles collection (dance mixes edition), then later came the clubby 93 remixes - there could be others as it's only in the last few year's i've learned how many releases had different mixes released in different countries (eg blancmange - don't tell me)

Tears for Fears: Suffer the Children !
They're on Universal.
Speaking of TFF, what's the difference between Mad World, World Remixed Version, and every other version?
And regarding Blancmange, nevermind about the various mixes in different countries; what about a couple of the mixes on the remastered CDs that seem to be "new" (unreleased)?

There is virtually no difference at all between Mad World (World Remix) and the album version except of course it doesn't fade into Pale Shelter like it does on The Hurting of course. I would be astounded if Suffer The Children (Remix) appeared on one of these compilations honestly.

Slightly off topic - blancmange -"The Day before you came" - was the 12" of this any good?

I'm still waiting for someone to put the "USA Dub Mix" of "The Look Of Love" by ABC on CD. One of the best 12" singles I've ever heard...

Thanks for the Visage info, DavePlym. On closer inspection, the "dance mix" on the Visage CD released by One Way records runs 6 minutes and 43 seconds and is basically extended by attaching a very long instrumental intro and outro with the full length album version dropped into the middle of it (basically making it ideal for club DJs to mix into and out of). I have this same mix on various compilations (80's 12 inch special, Classic Alternative 3, Electric 80s, and 12"/80s volume 1), but in every case, the song fades early, at different times in each case).
The version I have on vinyl, which is a Golden Dance Classic Hits reissue by ZYX records must be the original 12" version of which you speak. It runs 6 minutes and 10 seconds and is actually more of a long version of the album version, not relying on instrumental filler. The song begins just as the album version does, with the 'wolf howl' sound coming in almost immediately, as well as the spoken female voice and is vocal all the way through.

[/quote]Suffer The Children (Remix) is the best version. I wish it would be released on cd.
