Interesting. It will be nice to have all the stuff from each era packaged with the parent album, if they go the route of the recent U2 and Duran Duran 2-cd sets.

Greed that's what it is.The remasters from 2003 sound great and there is no need for these to be released again. It's probably the reason they blocked this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Platinum-Collec ... B000E6UX2A if they are going to include 12 inch mixes.

It's kind of funny, regarding the Platinum set, seeing as EMI re-issued the first Duran Duran Singles boxset as 3CDs, and at a much lower price (@#$!!!).

as long as they have remasters of all of the related 12" mixes & b-sides, i'll buy both. wish they'd also do a deluxe of sons and fascination/ sister feelings call...

Ditto, as that is one of my favourite Minds albums. Mind you, that set is kind of deluxe in itself. Gatefold CD sleeve!

Forget the innocuous Collectors' Editions of New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) or Sparkle In The Rain. They've been postponed indefinitely according to Virgin. Seems to be a trend with these Muppet's not releasing stuff with this and that Platinum Collection debacle a few years ago.

Ok, this will be the fifth time buying these two albums for me.

1st time - vinyl
2nd time - original release
3rd time - remastered US edition
4th time - japanese vinyl sleeve style cd
and now this deluxe version

Boy, someone's getting rich off of these. [:)]

Hope they have a second disc with all of the extended versions and any b-sides as well as a dvd with the videos and a bunch of tv performance. That would make it worth my while.

Didn't see your post Moni. [8D] Guess I won't have to buy these. Why does Virgin always seem to have such a hard time with reissues?

I don't think it's the record label putting a block on these. According to what i have read on a couple of sites it was the band who blocked the release of The Platinum Collection so it would be no great surprise if they have done it again with these collector's editions.

Why don't you just buy the Themes boxset(s), and whatever that double DVD set was called that had the promo videos?

I do have the double dvd set but if my memory serves me right, there weren't too many tv appearances on there, if there were any at all. I know Simple Minds made quite a few appearances on show such as TOTP. I also have the 1990 versions of Themes Boxes Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 which were my favorite years but I'm hoping to get some new remastered versions of the tracks which may or may not be better sounding. My point is if there going to release collectors editions, include stuff that is collectable.

I have the DVD DTS 5.1 Surround Sound version of Simple Minds' "New Gold Dream" which features several before unavailable remixes. Tracks 1 and 4 to 9 are presented in remixed/extended versions unique to this version of the album. And also a bonus track was included: In Every Heaven which clocks at 4:55.

Maybe these tracks or some of them will be used as bonus tracks for the collectors edition - besides the regular 12" versions and b sides of the singles [:p]
