This is the biggest joke of 2010 thus far, lol. You got to be kidding me, right? Cherry Red actually went through the trouble to re-re-release this album again? Let's hope they got it right this time, I still have nightmares over that dreaded sound of the first release they put out. Anyone gonna take a risk and buy it?

I think I can wait until the 2011 re-do-over.

wait--so, they're not pulling a new order and exchanging the crappy CD we already bought for a good one?

They bloody should replace the crappy discs. They can't expect people to buy it again with no refund for the shitty first edition they put out.

I like the way they don't even bother to mention in the new description that, you know, they've redone it because it was so bad a couple of months ago when they released it. Meanwhile, I can see this leading to more ordering problems--think you're ordering the new version but instead you get the bad version...nightmare.

This entire release is a nightmare and at this point it is pure amusement. I really do like this album as a whole but I will NOT buy this new "remaster" until it can be proved to be a "remaster."

Can they also do this for the Danse Society's "Looking Through" album which in my opinion is one of the worst sounding releases of all time?

Sean, Stephen Duffy's Ups and Downs is just as bad, it sounds awful as well from Cherry Red! Redo that one too, Cherry Red!

The mind boggles why these are allowed to be released to the general public in the first place hell does nobody bother listening to them before making that decision. It's like they were thinking oh we will put out some shitty remasters so people will have to buy them again. They can sod off[V]

Blame it on the "just be glad it's available" types.

I've heard people's home remasters of these albums sounding 10 times better than these releases. Is it the cost of getting a good remastering person? I'm thinking it cost $200-$500 for them to go to an outside remastering place. There's really just no excuse.

Rubellean, i couldn't agree more about speaking up.. I guess the logic is that people don't care about quality because they have been listening to badly ripped and lower quality mp3's for years.
I haven't heard from Cherry Red, i probably won't. Still would like to know how this edition is "remastered" that is coming out.
Edsel is horrible, i have stayed away since i bought the Altered Images catalog on cd.. those 12" mixes are bad sounding. I saw the second Paul Young album was put out by Edsel, i was tempted but when i saw it was them i have passed.
Wounded Bird is just the same with "bad quality be glad it's on cd" thing.
Sad!

I've been very pleased with Wounded Bird. I have yet to hear a bad release from them. Granted, i am no audiophile that could know what is perfect, but all my purchases from WB have sounded good to me.
