A Scritti Politti Best of is finally coming out on 29 March...I hope it includes his seminal DIY/Post-Punk singles but I doubt it as Green has practically distanced himself from his early years.
Also coming out is a Dandy Warhols greatest hits (supposedly but the title refers to a reissue of an earlier release last year) and the what looks like the start of the UB40 Deluxe Editions:
26-Jun-10 Dandy Warhols The Dandy Warhols Are Sound
(Greatest Hits)
06-Sep-10 UB40 Signing Off (Collector's Edition) 2CD/DVD

From an EMI catlaog:
01-Mar-Spandau Ballet Diamond Special Edition 2CD
01-Mar-Spandau Ballet Journey's To Glory Special Edition 2CD
15-Mar-Duran Duran Duran Duran 2CD+DVD
15-Mar-Duran Duran Seven & The Ragged Tiger 2CD+DVD
29-Mar-Scritti Politti Best Of
12-Apr-Arcadia So Red The Rose 2CD+DVD
I see they've eliminated the +DVD from the Spandau CD's. Bummer.

I notice there is no mention of those Simple Minds Collector's Editions there that were supposed to be being released in April.

That link to that best of 80s thread is releases from 2004. I saw the Scritti one on the EMI catalog site but there is no mention of it on that best of the 80s site anywhere.

Apparently the following True & Parade remasters will be CD / DVD sets.

The Scritti best of should have a bonus disc of remixes etc. Right ?

Rough Trade took care of all the early Scritti when they released Early a little while back. I imagine this best-of would be culled from Cupid and Provision. Perhaps they don't want to reissue the complete CDs?

Cupid deserves to be remastered with missing remixes from the singles such as Perfect Way (version) and The Word Girl/Flesh & Blood (version).
Can't see the point with a Best of culled from the first 3 albums unless it has unreleased material

EMI = Virgin Releases
I would assume has these songs on it that were Virgin singles:
Wood Beez
Absolute
The World Girl
Perfect Way
Boom There She Was
Lovesick
She's a Woman
Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me
Tinseltown to the Boogie Down
Mystic Handyman or
Scritti* + Likwit Crew - Another Sound Mission (Mystic Handyman Pt 2)
+
maybe license "Boom Boom Bap" or "Snow in the Sun" from White Bread, Black Beer
maybe songs produced for others
Love of a Lifetime - Chaka Khan
When it's Over - Adele Bertei
Maybe 12" mixes
Good to have the non lp songs on a cd of She's a Woman and Take me.
There was going to be this best of from Virgin planned until they spoke to Green and found he had completed Anomie & Bonhomie on his own and they released that instead back in 1999. So this best of has taken 10 years to see the light of day.
Maybe if this does well they will release reissues later, or even remaster the whole albums anyway in the process since they have to be baked, etc. Seems pointless to do this with one song. They did the same thing with the Culture Club box coming first and then the reissues, since the remastering was all done at same time.

It also needs Hypnotize and that '87 song from the Who's That Girl soundtrack. Could care less about anything after Provision.

Oh Patti as well. I honestly cannot see the point in a release like this unless it has say some unreleased tracks or a disc of remixes but then again the vast majority of their stuff has been available on CD. Would like the full version of Boom There She Was as it was edited down on the CD single for some strange reason.
