Tears for Fears-The Hurting 2-disc and 4-disc sets

Postby Analogue » Sun Oct 27, 2013 12:25 am

One discrepancy of note is that the new sets contain 'Broken Revisited' (5:15) (Including backward vocals intro, added reverb and reversed stereo channels) as opposed to the original 'We Are Broken' (4:03). To date, it is only available on CD here:

Yes, of course! How could I have forgotten about these two comps, there are so many out there!

No credits are mentioned on Discogs in regards to the the mastering engineers responsible for either of these releases. Does anyone have these? I'm curious as to the mastering/sound quality on 'We Are Broken' in particular.

Would be nice to get a review, especially on the DVD picture quality, actual content and sound options.
Thanks

The band covered Hot Chip's 2006 electro-pop favorite "And I Was A Boy From School" (which was re-titled "Boy From School" when it was issued as a single off "The Warning").

I do think the 1999 remaster is worse. But this remaster has such high midrange on some tracks that it's cringe worthy. All versions of Pale Shelter, as well as the remix of 'Mad World' are very harsh. I had to do some MASSIVE re-EQing before saving to the iPod. Peter Mew sounds like another Universal Music hack, like Gary Moore.

Glad that I kept my 1999 remaster, that one has no audio glitches. Because here, there is a glitch on Ideas As Opiates at around the 2:25 minute mark, which is not on the 1999 edition.

We are Broken presented in this set is the same version which was presented in 'Songs from the big chair 2 CD deluxe edition' years ago in the title 'Broken Revisited' so this is a missed opportunity to get the original version of the song.

I have the glitch on there. I don't like the song so it doesn't matter to me. Plus, it's easily repairable.

Well Analogue... This is becoming more and more of the f*** up that i described! I mean, how hard is it really? Discrepancy's, glitch's, wrong versions, brickwalled. What exactly is so good about this £33 nightmare? Pity Tom Parker didn't do it. The Bananarama sets are FLAWLESS
