PRINCE remasters - finally!

I read somwhere that it's now a November (Xmas) release, as he has two new albums out right now. I feel that is a good thing as all of these releases are by a "real" and major record Company so we can expect something big, and hopefully deluxe and special editions.

I think that they've been quietly put on hold indefinitely.

Nah. Why the cynicism? He has two cds coming out on Warners, i think theyve just been put back for the new ones.

I was a huge fan of Prince's music from 1980-1993ish and then once in a while after that he would real me back in. But I always admired and respected his musicianship and songwriting talents. Hearing of his death was surprising and sadenning.

During the course of the day I too recalled the 2014 announcement by Warners regarding these reissues and wondered if they might finally see a release. It is probably too soon to speculate, but at least from a "business" perspective it would make sense. I just hope if and when they do materialize they are top notch quality and honor the artistic integrity Prince cultivated and maintained throughout his career.

I still think they should do two versions of Purple Rain:
- a purely Prince and the Revolution release, with extended versions and b-sides
- a soundtrack version, with tracks by The Time, Apollonia 6, and Dez Dickerson and the Modernaires

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but I think that the Prince remasters are not going to happen in the near future. It was announched today that Prince was a bad manager over his music. It also had a lot to do with different names over his music, a bad relationship with Warners, his own Paisley Park label etc.

By the way ... I hope that I'm wrong :)

It says they are from radio broadcasts. Who knows, perhaps these are legit, after all? Or perhaps you are right.
