As well as a new Once Upon A Time super deluxe edition box set, Universal Music will issue another Simple Minds collection this autumn in the shape of this seven-LP limited edition vinyl box The Vinyl Collection 79-84.

This collects the band’s first seven albums – Life In A Day, Real To Real Cacophony, Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination, Sister Feelings Call, New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) and Sparkle In The Rain.

All of these albums have been remastered at Abbey Road and are pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl. Since this set ends at 1984 it doesn’t include Once Upon A Time, but that is being released separately on vinyl along with the new super deluxe edition box set of that album.

I stopped buying vinyl 25 years ago as i was having trouble fitting it into my walkman and seriously how many formats of one album do people need to buy it's getting ridiculous. Next thing you know the 8-Track Cartridge will be making a comeback

You can find a mint copy of that beautiful original US pressing on gold/purple vinyl for less than this new vinyl copy.

We get it it. Vinyl sounds better. Sorry, but I don't care. I would never even consider buying any vinyl reissue. Some of these have proven to be good investments (assuming you don't play them and leave them in their shrink-wrap). I view this as another cynical attempt to earn money off of physical releases.

I wonder why they didn't release the Themes sets on vinyl. It would be something new (for vinyl), at least.

no thank you (besides i already have them)...

colored vinyl doesn't sound as good, as regular black vinyl..

they are only good to look at, that's about it.

for me, its more about collecting... so they're not forcing anyone to buy it...

and yes, it will probably be better quality than all the brickwalled cds, and remasters....
