I know to many people Modern Romance are little more than a joke band but I think Adventures In Clubland is a great album. But what a weird selection of bonus tracks...surely this should be the ideal opportunity to get all the stuff with Geoff Deane singing on one CD? WTF is Best Years Of Our Lives doing on there? Nice to see the tracks from their first few singles but all these are missing:

La Rocca (12" b-side Tonight)
Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White (Geoff Deane vocal, non-album single 7" and 12" mixes)
Who Is John Du Prez? (CPAABW b-side)
By The Way (I'm Still In Love With You) (non-album single, 7" and 12" mixes)

I suppose it's too late to lobby for a change in tracks?

I was hoping for a complete era from the first album release in 1981/82. I only see Modern Romance, I Believe In Me, Tonight, Fever and Moose On The Loose (Disco Mix) as relevant. But the other 7 inch and 12 inch versions are completely missing also.

For instance, where is:

-Everybody Salsa (Disco Mix)
-Salsa Rappsody (Dub Discomix)
-Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey (Disco Mix)
-Tear The Roof Off The Moose (Dub Discomix)
-Can You Move (American Mix)
-Can You Move (Vocal Midnight Mix)
-Can You Move (Instrumental Midnight Mix)
-By The Way (I'm Still In Love With You) (Disco Mix)

The track Best Years Of Our Lives has nothing to do with the first album era.

What a sloppy compilation! This could easily have been a 2-CD set. If there are no changes been made in the track list, I'm not buying, period.

There was an unofficial CD release (2011) from Premium Series which is much better:

Didn't some of these missing tracks appear on The Platinum Collection from 2006 ? I agree that By The Way (I'm Still In Love With You) (7"/12") as well as Can You Move could've been squeezed on to Adventures In Clubland cd.

I contacted Cherry Red about this (upcoming) release. Let's see what they say and can/will do about all these missing tracks.

It's probably too late to change . I think the CDs are printed ,ready to go. Unless cherry red decides to reprint and offer a bonus disc at a discounted price ( highly unlikely ). Also it says on their website that the cd was compiled with assistance from band members. Maybe they proposed the track listing.

This should be definitly a 2 CD version - to cover the whole "Geoff Deane" era:

CD 1 (original UK album - incl. "I stand alone") + Bonus tracks: Non-album 7" A's and B's
1. BRING ON THE FUNKATEERS
2. NOTHING EVER GOES THE WAY YOU PLAN / QUEEN OF THE RAPPING SCENE
3. CLUBLAND MIX: (EVERYBODY SALSA/MOOSE ON THE LOOSE/SALSA RAPP-SODY/AY AY AY AY MOOSEY)
4. WE’VE GOT THEM RUNNING (THE COUNTING SONG)
5. I STAND ALONE
6. I CAN’T GET ENOUGH
7. STAND UP
BONUS TRACKS
8. MODERN ROMANCE (7")
9. I BELIEVE IN ME (B-side)
10. TONIGHT (7" = 12"?)
11. FEVER (B-side)
12. La Rocca (B-side 12")
13. Queen Of The Rapping Scene (Nothing Ever Goes The Way You Plan) (7")
14. By The Way (I'm Still In Love With You) (7")
15. By The Way (Trumpet Voluntary) (B-side 7" = 12"?)
16. Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White (7")
17. Who Is John Du Prez? (B-side 7" = 12"?)

CD2 - Mixes:
1. Everybody Salsa (12" Disco Mix)
2. Salsa Rappsody (12" Dub Discomix)
3. Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey (12" Disco Mix)
4. Tear The Roof Off The Moose (12" Dub Discomix)
5. Can You Move (12" Vocal Midnight Mix)
6. Can You Move (12" Instrumental Midnight Mix)
7. Queen Of The Rapping Scene (Nothing Ever Goes The Way You Plan) (12" Version)
8. By The Way (I'm Still In Love With You) (12" Disco Mix)
9. Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White (12" Version)
10. Everybody Salsa (7")
11. Salsa Rappsody (7")
12. Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey (7")
13. Moose On The Loose (7")
14. Can You Move (7"/American Mix)

And no "Best Years Of Our Lives" which clearly belongs to the "Mullins" era - which is not half as good. At least in my opinion.....

Any chance to convince Cherry Red to adjust their tracklist??????????????

Oh I wish they would , but realistically I think it's too short a notice. The Geoff Deane era was definitely the best, never really cared for the other two albums . What would be nice is another MR collection that has all the unreleased stuff.

I finally got an email reply from Cherry Red:

Hi Luke

Thank you for your message to Cherry Red. I believe it will be too late to make any changes to the track selections. I have forwarded on your email to the project manager responsible for the forthcoming reissue for them to consider your input for any future reissues by Modern Romance.

With best wishes
Tim @ Cherry Red

By the way, i REALLY like the tracklist from profil ... makes a big smile on my face :D

Maybe a future released could include Geoff's solo What About Romance? single.

I've bought the unofficial CD release at Ebay last year, it's brilliant. Remastered from the Master Tapes!!!

Yes I've got that one too, and the Wounded Bird US version. I hoped I'd finally get a definitive edition here...close but not quite.

By the way Amazonuk preorder price is an absurd £17.29. Can this really be true for a single cd?

The ridiculous initial list price is a common amazon uk practice. It will likely come down. But all cherry red releases get picked up very shortly after release by amazon us marketplace sellers (usually like $16 including postage), so there's no real point in buying this from the UK if you live in USA.

That said, as the CD continues to die, ironically, they may become more expensive.
