Human League Anthology - A Very British Synthesizer Band

This title has been announced on the band's Facebook page today but no details as yet. I really hope this is not yet another greatest hits rehash. The world does not need another Human League compilation. I'd love this to be an opening of the band's vaults but I fear I'll be disappointed so I'll hold out for maybe a handful of rare tracks and/or maybe even something brand new.

agreed , it will be a missed opportunity if they don't put tracks like the alternate version of Marianne onto CD for the first time

I thought this was just the name of the new almost annual (nowadays) Christmas tour

THL are due for some new material now. I hope we get a new album and not another "Best Of".

As long as it's better than Credo as that was shit.

I agree. Susan and Joanne's voices on that album completely ruined it. This is wishful thinking but Philip should reunite with Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh to do a HL album.

I love Credo. I also like Secrets and Octopus.

The music on the last few HL albums was ok. I just think that Philip should sing pretty much all lead vocals and have the girls only do harmonies etc.

Apparently this will be a 2CD set curated by the band of their entire career from 1978 onwards. It will include "radio and DJ versions". Wow. Consider me underwhelmed .

To be fair "anthology" does kind of imply nothing more than a drawing together of previously released material - clue's in the name... And a couple of hard to-find 7" edits finally making a CD appearance could be nice...

Hmm this does sound a bit underwhelming considering all of their compilations already, but the knowledge that they're behind this one (how many of the previous ones were they involved in?) makes me feel better about it.

Maybe we'll be lucky and even get a new song or two. Wish it was more than 2cds though or even including a DVD of all their videos.

They already released a DVD with all their videos and having released 17 compilations over the years we certainly don't need another one.

I'd rather that they reissue the Marsh/Ware era stuff with anything that hadn't appeared before. I'm sure that alternative edits, BBC/John Peel sessions are in the vaults somewhere . Also a 2cd remaster of Hysteria would be a nice welcome. The 2005 Caroline version was good but is long out of print. Is that too much to ask ?

Apart from some 7 inch versions, the only thing that was missing from that 2005 Caroline release was the instrumental version of The Lebanon. I've had the vinyl for a very long time and like to have a CD release of it.
