it's decent, but of course, you can't compare it to the original.

it's got a few upbeat songs, but there's too many ballads and slow tempo songs on it.

it's very well produced, and it will take a few more listens to get into it.

Agree on the ballads. The first four tracks are top notch.

:D I've got to say I think it is a stunning album, with "I Believe In Love" the only weak track, some fantastic gems on it, "Viva Love", "The Flames Of Desire", "Ten Below Zero", "Confessions Of A Fool", "Kiss Me Goodbye" and "Brighter Than The Sun". Their best album since "How To Be A Zillionaire".

There have been some brilliant comeback albums in the last few years, including:

Marc Almond - The Velvet Trail
Erasure - The Violet Flame
Ultravox - Brilliant
China Crisis - Autumn In The Neighbourhood
OMD - English Electric
A-Ha - Cast In Steel

We just need flawless albums now by the Pet Shop Boys, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk and The Human League and i'll be a happy man. :)

Really really awesome album. I didn't think they can do it but they pulled it off. Wonder why it took them so long to recreate this sound. I am though really disappointed they don't make the a cd/3dvd package. Why do they think a person who would buy vinyl would be interested in dvd's as opposed to a cd person? Anyways, if they did this and sold it for like 60 GBP's, I would have bought this as a deluxe package. 100 GBP's for the 2 vinyls/3dvd set??? They think we're all "zillionaires"?

to me, after listening to this album a few more times, it just doesn't match up to their last few albums, although it is better
than skyscraping.

alphabet city is a much better album, and now listening to it, is much more a complete album, and retains more of what lexicon 2 should have been like.

although the production values on the new album are great, and martin sounds good. overall, the album lacks energy. it has a few high points, but
gets dragged down several times with the slower tempo songs. also, some of the songs have that 90s breakbeat sound to them, so they sound out of place.

a nice effort, but the recent compilation tracks, and soundtrack songs sound better than most of the songs on this album.

waiting for the boxset to arrive in a few weeks.

Coming from someone whose favourite ABC albums are Up and Abracadabra, I found this album to be a brilliant return to form. Wasn't overly keen on Traffic, but I liked The Very First Time.

Viva Love had me excited for this album, especially considering I loved the original version of it. Doubted it at first especially after the title was announced, but they've proved me wrong. Kiss Me Goodbye was another highlight for me, especially considering the original was a bit disappointing for me. Flames of Desire is another favourite for me.

The video for Viva Love was a downer though, and a great example of ageism. Could have at least featured Martin singing the song. Been a long time since the last ABC video though, which was a welcome change I suppose....

In 1985 ABC did a session for Capital Radio UK. They played Millionaire, Tower of London and Be Near me. Would be nice to hear this.

has anyone gotten their super deluxe edition 2 vinyl with 3 dvd & signed print?

I would love to see additional pictures of it other than just the one listed on their site before i invest upwards of $200 US dollars after shipping...

thanks!

I'd love to hear that too - did anyone here hear it at the time? I wonder by the nature of the Zillionaire era it was live? The only live stuff I know about is Millionaire and Tower of London on The Tube.

Is the Lexicon Of Love II 180gm vinyl or standard vinyl??

Thanks for the reply, I'm assuming as I can't find anywhere that states it is 180gm vinyl it is regular vinyl.

the vinyl for both albums is heavy vinyl.

the dvd's are great.

the making of is very cool. six songs is a short festival set.

the lexicon live at drury lane is mindlblowingly great. abc performing with a full orchestra and the full lexicon album is spine tingling.
still getting chills from hearing all the songs.
