... Plus the even bigger rarity "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go [Original 12" Version]". At first glance, this is somewhat disappointing with the number of 12" mixes already readily available on numerous compilations. However, it is nice seeing the Huey Lewis & The News 12" mix and Jon Astley's "Jane's Getting Serious", which are both rare on CD. And can we please get some other Bangles 12" mix other than "Walk Like An Egyptian" and "Manic Monday" on CD?

I respect that Blank & Jones are doing this series, but I feel like I've bought at least 5 of them for one or two mixes at most. So80s 8 for me was the only one that really kicked ass. This volume is a heap of disappointment, with most of the known tracks available elsewhere, even Huey was on the Japanese CD Super Selections.

well full marks for a couple , good to see fiat lux on Cd , shame it wasnt blue emotion 12" and all kudos for secession

if they have managed to get rights for these there is hope that some compilations can be licenced

rest of the tracklisting quite disappointing and a missed opportunity

you guys need to make your own compilations and stop griping,

anyways, i agree, there aren't too many good tracks on this.

but there are always licensing issues, and they said they finally got a pet shop boys track,
so you never know.

they included blue monday and tainted love because its their favorites, and was easy to license.

"because it's their favorites and was easy to license"

Well, THAT"s definitely solid logic for selling a lot of copies. :) I'll keep in mind that when I want to sell something to pick what I like and what is easy without regards to supply and demand.

Look, I like Blank & Jones. I've bought plenty of their comps, but I can list 100 remixes that have never seen the light of day, or are extremely rare. I'm pretty sure if you pointed me to the relevant people at the right labels and gave me a budget I could get at least some of them.

Try reading Piet's comments on the SDE site regarding this. Anyway Tainted love is a completely new tranfer... 'i know…the blue monday and tainted love thing….but if you look at so8os as a closed series, we couldn’t leave these two 12 inches off this series….everytime we get asked what’s your fav 12″ of the 80s we pick one of these two…so please take it as guilty pleasure from our side…tainted love is a complete new transfer from the original tape…i still hope that at an average song price of around 80 cent you forgive us this luxury ; )'

Despite my complaints, I will still be buying volume 10. There's a lot of good material (no vinyl transfers) on these discs, regardless. I already own the previous 9 volumes and will be happy to support volume 10 for the rarities that are included.

HA HA, good luck with that. haven't heard a good joke like that in awhile.

i doubt you could get 10 rare songs on a compilation.

my friend works for a music label, and in the industry, we have a hard time getting an information about tracks,
let alone finding out what the licensing is.

even if you do, unless you a super rich, good luck paying for them, and good luck selling them, to break even or a profit,
you wouldn't because it would be too expensive.

Self Control AGAIN. Like, Laura Branigan didn't have a whole SLEW of 12" singles. Sure would be nice to see a LB 12" singles collection before I die of old age.

Indeed. I was hoping for the 12" of "Solitaire", which was supposed to appear on the Gold Legion reissue of "Branigan 2".

I thought they could've done a better job in selecting tracks. In this day and age with streaming available everywhere and the age of rapidly declining cd sales, why put a bullet in by having a collection that most people wouldn't bother with. So80s 10 should been pulled back and reissued, but it's too late..

This compilation is worth it strictly for Secession - The Magician (Pecky Plus Mix)...IF it is from the original master tape!
