I'm inquiring about that. It does seem a ways away. The remastering was completed a couple months back.
It was a dream come true as far as source material, Universal provided excellent flat transfers of each reel of tape. They didn't even cut them into tracks, I just got large files of each full reel of tape and got to do everything myself. Wonderful.

OK, my mistake. I just got confirmation that it is this year, though I do not know the exact date at the moment. I assumed 2017 since the announcement was just made and summer is over in a couple of weeks. At least in Ohio!

Was Hotel Room also included (i.e. will it be part of the release)? It doesn't sound like it judging from the descriptions. Would have been nice to get that too, but it will be a very nice package anyhow.

Sorry, no 'Hotel Room'. It's all about licensing, and when it's from a major label, it's expensive like you wouldn't believe. I'm just happy they managed to find the original tapes. Looks like the release is around late October.

Usually, yes. But this year's has been an exceptions. Records broken for most 90+ degree days, and they're still happening. Plus, very little rain, which is great for not having to mow the now brown and patchy lawn very much. Fall will be very welcome. That is the 2 days we get before the snowstorms begin their 6 month reign. Oh.....

Was the Nightlife collection that came out some years ago from vinyl rips?

I'm confused about Hotel Room - wasn't it part of the Digital Cowboy EP which they say is included?

The Nightlife collection was from vinyl. I was asked at the time to remaster 2 songs for it that the person doing the remastering was having trouble with. It was released on the Almacantar label, which was essentially releasing everything illegally. Very few of their titles were properly licensed and they were eventually shut down as a result.

'Hotel Room' was part of one of the international variations of the EP, but not the main 5 track version. The EP tracks included are:

Target for life
Red alert
Lawnchairs
Dance floor
No one's watching

That would be it then; I'm in the UK so only know that version of the EP. A great shame as Hotel Room is one of their best tracks.

I just want to say, Rubellan, thanks for all your work on these (and all other releases you've worked on). The Units' Animals They Dream About CD sounded great; it was almost worth waiting 30 years for the record to come out. I'll buy ODW the second the preorder goes up.
