awesome, but would prefer a singles box.

still, this is a great sign.

I would imagine that will be next... along with a 1CD best of, a 2CD best of, a remix compilation, basic album replicas in a clamshell, a picture disc for RSD 2017, stand alone album reissues... pretty much what Edsel always do with their licensed pop acts (Bananarama, Belinda Carlisle, Donna Summer, etc.)!

I bet this will sell like hotcakes in Japan. I myself would also prefer a singles boxset or at least 2cd versions of Youthquake and Mad Bad & Dangerous only.

They seem to be missing that re-recording of 'The Stranger', which was the B side of the 'What I Want' single. Oh well, I guess they haven't completely nullified my Cherry Red remaster from 2007 then. I would be interested in the first 2 albums if sold separately, but I don't need all of this. Plus, I would like to know if they are remastered from original tapes. You have to be very specific with Sony or you can get some really garbage source material from them. I'm doing some Altered Images vinyl reissues for Vinyl 180 because the source material Sony gave them were unbelievably poor vinyl rips.

I noticed that too. BTW if you want a fairly decent vinyl rip of The Stranger (7") check out DJ Paul's burningtheground page :

Steve Coy has already confirmed this is "the first of many" releases, so I would imagine the few odds and ends missing (like the Anything Dub from the UK cassette of SBB album) may well surface across future releases.

"17-week Japanese #1 single, ‘Turn Around And Count 2 Ten’" - hmmm, on which chart exactly? Two main Japanese charts for the 1980s - Oricon and Music Labo - can't confirm it (the single was actually #63 on the former and didn't chart on the latter).

As for the box set itself, I have trouble sitting through a single album of theirs - 19 CDs seem like not so much overkill as complete and utter elimination! And those still don't contain everything they released  Still, 30+ remixes of Spin Me Round can console everytone interested, I presume :D

do you listen to all your cds in a boxset in a row continuously?

what kind of comment is that. nobody listens to all the cd's in a row.

you can listen to one of them at a time, or even part of one.

this is great for dead or alive fans.

I just don't understand a point of all these remixes - and with their main hit the number is just ridiculous. I kind of understand the need to compile their albums but remixes, especially modern ones, can hardly be considered "value for money" - especially when there's so many of them (like 50% or so of content!). This pile could've been trimmed in half quite painlessly.

But the appeal of DOA always eluded me so maybe I'm missing something crucial. After all, maybe DOA were always more about remixes than actual songs...

you've obviously never heard of groups like new order - redoing blue monday 30 times over, or the pet shop boys doing west end girls 40 times over, or frankie goes to hollywood
doing relax 50 times over, or underworld doing born slippy 30 times over, depeche mode - enjoy the silence, erasure etc, etc, etc.

this is a very common practice with big hits, so dead or alive doing it, is no different than any other band with a huge hit single.

to me it's a very important part of the bands history whether i like them or not.

The point is to lessen all the moaning that we do here if there's some rare mix missing that had 64 beats cut from in the middle of the track because "that's how I remembered it". :D

BWAHAHAHAHAHAA--This is the most brilliant post I've ever read here! Now somebody prove just how correct obs is by posting a graphic analysis of this set's sound quality.
