How about "Crowd-funding" Re-issues?

How about "Crowd-funding" Re-issues?

How about "Crowd-funding" Re-issues or never released on CD?
Some out-of-print CDs and never released on CD records go for beaucoup bucks (Haven't said that since the 80's)
Get someone like Rubellan to facilitate it so it doesn't come out brick-walled.
Time's running out for most of us O.G.s (Old Guys)
while these recordings just decay in some studio's master vault.

You know, I recently thought about this idea. The main roadblock is trying to find a contact at major labels to license. I tried with Sony a year or so ago and was given the email address from someone at Sony to their licensing department. I sent several messages and all went unanswered. I've been told this is not uncommon, and licensing departments for catalog titles are generally not interested. If someone can provide me contacts for licensing, I would definitely look into this.

Perhaps Ivar Hamilton can help. He is currently Vice President of Catalogue Marketing and Sports Music Marketing at Universal Music here in Canada. Maybe he can give you a contact or two in the U.S. that will respond. He can be reached at: ivar.hamilton@nythespirit.com He hosts a one hour radio program at that site. He was Import Music Director ( yes you read that right IMPORT ) at CFNY 102.1 The Spirit of Radio from 1979-1988 here in Canada. The station was phenomenal up until 1987. He has worked for PolyGram/Universal since 1988.

It's sad because this music just resides in some recording studio's vault,
meanwhile we could be listening to it and someone could be getting some revenue from it.

You can find a thread here on Lene Lovich ripping off her fans with a crowd-funding scheme — it's the main reason that I'll never again back an artist in one of those things. (Some amazingly crappy packaging from two other bands' reissue projects also comes to mind, but at least they sent out the actual product.)
