Kraftwerk - 3d Catalog boxsets, bluray and audio, vinyl

Kraftwerk - 3d Catalog boxsets, bluray and audio, vinyl

Postby negative1 » Fri Apr 21, 2017 10:46 am

Kraftwerk is releasing several boxsets:
-

3d catalog

- 4 bluray boxset with book, of all the concerts
- 8 cd boxset of all the concerts
- best of bluray
- 9 lp vinyl boxset of all the concerts
- best of cds

many options:
==========================

4-Disk blu-ray boxset

Video 3D Sound
2012-2016
220 Minutes/2D Compatible

http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... -box-sets/

I'm pretty sure i will be buying the boxset, and other versions.

Wonder if it will be available in german and english?

I saw the 3d concerts twice (best of), and it was very cool. I think the videos will be cool for people that haven't seen them.

===========================================================

That being said, I'll be the first one to say, that the full album concerts are very disappointing.

I was hoping they would represent the full albums better, but most of the songs are truncated, and
album tracks are left off.

So don't expect the full albums like you remember them.

Of course, the sound quality is excellent, so no issues with that.

Will definintely be doing a full in depth review once it was out.

Oh HELL yes!!!!! Saw them in Detroit Oct 5 of 2015 and it was AMAZING. A bit overwhelmed by all the options and track listings lol but this is definitely going to be a must buy for me. Then I suppose I'll need to buy a new 3D TV and sound system with Atmos lol... Eventually.

Apologies for my German, but F*CK them. They have been flogging their back catalogue, via various formats and their tedious and superfluous "concerts" ad nauseam. As someone who endured some of their MoMA "concerts" a few years back, I can only conclude that whoever is still in Kraftwerk is/are an extremely cynical, money-grubbing anachronism, who hasn't/haven't produced anything of note for many, many years. Please go away.

Agree with Barmy. Those guys now do more to tarnish Kraftwerk's legacy than to preserve or enhance it. They should've packed it in a long time ago instead or turning into the bad parody of once mighty band. Go away with dignity if you have nothing left to say; this is pure money grabbing.

4 posts, 3 of them negative as could be expected.
How predictable this has become.
Next, someone will be complaining again that the track order sucks...

actually, i complained about the tracks too.. by saying the album versions aren't that great.

but since im a fan, i'm still going to get them in english and german.

this might be the last things that i buy from them, unless they come out with new material (unlikely).

i'm sure that when they go an VR holographic tour, that will also be released in the future.

Well I'm excited as heck about this release. Just have to decide which set I want. I appreciate that they are offering it in the best video and sound formats too. Most bands discussed here still only release videos on the DVD format - which is generally decent, but Blu-ray will definitely be a vast improvement especially for a 3D live show like this.

I stopped expecting new material from Kraftwerk back in the 90s. So the 2003 album was a nice surprise. They have never been about quantity anyway. And with only one original member remaining (though two of the other three have definitely put in many years now) any new material would be drastically different - not necessarily bad - but I'm sure we'd hear a lot of bitching about how it doesn't sound like "classic" Kraftwerk here lol. So I'm more than happy to support them still (hell they've been around over 40yrs and still get out there - good for them) and I wouldn't call it money grabbing as long as fans who WANT it are choosing to buy it of their own free will.

I haven't read through the details of whatever is being released. But seriously, buying videos of these concerts? This is a band that (1) no longer exists and (2) released their last good album in 1981. That's about 35 years ago. But yet they still are trying to suck money out of material that has been wrung dry. Shameful, and ultimately I think they are the most embarrassing band (not band, but whoever the remaining member is) of all time, with respect to exploiting their ancient, and great, distant past.

no ones' being forced to buy it.

if you don't care, ignore it.

fans will always buy new stuff.

most new albums from old groups are subpar to bad, so whats the point of new material.

tour de france soundtracks was a very weak album.

minimum maximum was excellent.

To clarify, these are videos of performance art. The experience of these performances cannot remotely be duplicated on video, home or theatrical. Many concert films can be extremely enjoyable, because of the advantage of close-ups or whatnot. Kraftwerk is the last band that anyone would care to see in this format. These shows had special backgrounds, lighting effects and sound and, at least at MoMA, in a rather small and enveloping space. The fact that 4 Kraftwerk people were there was beside the point, I think intentionally. But instead of just letting these performances go, whoever runs Kraftwerk has decided to squeeze some more dollars out of them. Whoever it is, he can't possibly believe that what he is selling remotely reflects what was performed. The honorable thing to do would be to just let these performances go.

The fact that this is all old stuff is largely irrelevant. Plenty of elderly bands (e.g. the Rolling Stones "Shine a Light") have produced good concert videos. But even then, you generally get some new or obscure stuff, or at least a few significantly renovated oldies. You won't be getting that here.

Anyway, I await the 40th anniversary re-re-re-release of Computer World, with the bonus of a remix of some sort.

there was never a re-release with extra tracks from them.. the only ones that have extra tracks are usually japanese releases.

no, we will be getting holographic VR, embedded versions by then.

Speculation about the tracks, and approximate times.

Looking back at some of the concerts, and the tracks listed, the album version
are all cut short live, and sometimes tracks are missing.

Here's a look at autobahn:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Autobahn (Bonus Content)
2. Kometenmelodie1 (Bonus Content)
3. Kometenmelodie2 (Bonus Content)
4. Mitternacht (Bonus Content)
5. Morgenspaziergang (Bonus Content)

(Times from the live tracks are from Paridiso)
==================================
1 autobahn
Live SET LIST:

01. [00:45] [intro]

02. [14:22] Autobahn
03. [05:28] Kometenmelodie 1
04. [03:33] Kometenmelodie 2
05. [02:11] Mitternacht
06. [01:36] Morgenspaziergang

====================
Live time : About 27 minutes

Album
==================
No. Title Length
1. "Autobahn" ("Motorway") 22:43

Side two
No. Title Length
2. "Kometenmelodie 1" ("Comet Melody 1") 6:26
3. "Kometenmelodie 2" ("Comet Melody 2") 5:48
4. "Mitternacht" ("Midnight") 3:43
5. "Morgenspaziergang" ("Morning Walk") 4:04
Total length: 42:26

So we'll probably get about 13 minutes less. Most of this comes from the truncated 'autobahn' title track.
The other tracks, are all a few minutes shorter, and also shortened and cut down quite a bit, which is odd,
because the songs are short already....

Radioactivity is up next..

That might expain why an Official track listing for the CD's is nowhere to be found.......27 minutes of music on a CD, they are having a laugh.

It will be interesting to see the other albums compared Live/Studio versions
