8 CD-box and the double LP-set is on its way! Looking forward to it..

Does anybody know if the BluRays (the single BR, and the 4 BR-set) is released both with English and German versions, like they previously did, or did they use the German versions all over? (Radioactivity/Computerworld etc)

I also like that each song is given it's own distinct track on the CD's, unlike the digital download I sampled before buying which combined many tracks together as one.

Absolutely no regrets with this purchase.

Those songs are supposed to be segued together. I doubt anyone would listen to parts of those songs, without the complete song.

I agree, but previous releases seem to indicate the band considers them to be distinctly separate movements. I'm just saying I like that you can advance to each different part easily on the CDs. They are still segued together the same as the digital download versions, just indexed differently into individual tracks.

yes, there are separate german and english releases. however, it's not clear exactly which is original. they match up note for note. so the german may be original,
and the english versions might be dubbed over them, or the english may be original and the german dubbed over.

here is the robots (ger vs eng) in separate channels:

01 Kraftwerk - Trans Europa Express (ger vs us).mp3

Link:
http://www31.zippyshare.com/v/X0jTV1o5/file.html

they have the exact same times, and even the videos are edited to match.

finally, if anyone doubts they are live, here's a mix of a live version from paridiso thats overlaid with the 3d release:

Well, i suppose, if there are both german and english releases, which differ, they would use the concert recordings of a venue they used the right language.. I suppose, as they are German, that would be the original language, but i am used to listen to their stuff in english, so the other sound wrong in my ears.. (except the obvious Autobahn, and parts of The Man Machine)

The US 4 bluray version is on sale at amazon for $142:

https://www.amazon.com/3-D-Catalogue-Bl ... ftwerk+3-d

no, they would not use different recordings, because the music matches up EXACTLY, and have the same track lengths. which would be hard
to do live.

here's more information about the german vs english versions:

x version exists

Well, i'm not sure how much of it IS REALLY live though..
I saw 3 of their shows in Oslo Operahouse, and there was not much difference between the (same)tracks the different evenings.. And to match the playing videos, the timings must be rather accurate..

There are countless videos of Kraftwerk playing live, so I'm not sure what the question is, it's all done live,
except for the robots.

I stand corrected..
Got the 4 BR-box now, and it was great fun seeing the shows again. The Dolby Atmos track (TrueHD here, as i miss a couple speakers, and the newest receiver) was top notch!

(Edited to remove quote with error; quoted post has since been corrected)

Herculean effort putting this together! I tried doing something similar with what I could find online, but gave up after a while.

But before I gave it up, I compared Techno Pop and what I found doesn't quite match what you've got. The only difference I could find with Electric Cafe is German overlaps the opening 8 beeps of Telephone Call over the fade-out, whereas English Electric Cafe fades out without the beeps. Is that the difference you are referring to? Because I could not detect any other difference. This difference also makes English Telephone Call a bit longer since the opening beeps are now there instead of on top of the previous track's fade-out. There's some more overlap/cross-fading in the German Techno Pop/Music Non Stop transition, too. The English version's more leisurely approach from one track to the next makes the entire album some 40 seconds longer than the German.

Radioactivity has me confused... I've been reading that Der Katalog CD version mistakenly has the English Radioactivity so I assume you must have used digital download or vinyl (or blu rays?) for your comparisons. I thought the title track was the ONLY one with differences. If I'm reading it right, you're saying that there are now 6 additional tracks from Radioactivity that are different between the two sets?

ok, you are absolutely right.
--------------------------------------
1 tracks are taken from the 8cd german and 8cd english sets

2 radioactivity is the ONLY track that is different in german and english

3 the german CD set has the wrong track on the album version, the mix version in german is correct.

the ONLY difference between the german release of the actual radioactivity albums and the english is the track titles,
both have english and german samples and vocals throughout the different tracks.

iv'e gone back and corrected my post, thanks for pointing that out.

I've removed the quote of the earlier version of your post from my post; don't want multiple versions of your comparison out there to confuse people.

But back to another question I had: Electric Cafe-- What/where is the difference you found between English and German versions?

Thanks!

Actually, the songs may be similar and not have any language changes, but i found the sound dynamics were different (less reverb), so i guess that's not really a german difference.

Aha, thanks for the clarification on Electric Cafe, and once again thanks for the overall comparison of the two sets.

Cheers!
