Kraftwerk - 3d Catalog boxsets, bluray and audio, vinyl

Re: Kraftwerk - 3d Catalog boxsets, bluray and audio, vinyl

The live versions were generally just the albums (ALL of which are not that long) plus greatest hits. I really can't imagine why this project even exists. Kraftwerk LIVE on CD is just absurd on its face. I've already commented on the pointlessness of the videos.

They are from the bootlegs of the paradiso concerts.

So timings should be spot on. Seen those bootlegs knocking around, I presume they are audience recordings are they?

for the 3rd show, this album is represented with almost all the songs,
however they are much shorter than the album versions.

3 trans europe express
------------------------------------------------------------------
18. Trans Europe Express (Bonus Content)
19. Metal On Metal (Bonus Content)
20. Abzug (Bonus Content)
21. Franz Schubert (Bonus Content)
22. Europe Endless (Bonus Content)
23. The Hall Of Mirrors (Bonus Content)
24. Showroom Dummies (Bonus Content)

SET LIST:
live times take from Paridiso concert
============================================
01. [00:46] [intro]

02. [03:20] Trans-Europe Express
03. [00:46] Abzug
04. [03:23] Metal On Metal
05. [01:12] Franz Schubert
06. [05:57] Europe Endless
07. [05:29] The Hall Of Mirrors
08. [03:53] Showroom Dummies
============================
Total time : about 24 minutes

Side one
No. Title Lyrics Music Length
1. "Europe Endless" ("Europa Endlos") 9:40
2. "The Hall of Mirrors" ("Spiegelsaal") 7:56
3. "Showroom Dummies" ("Schaufensterpuppen") 6:15

Side two
No. Title Lyrics Music Length
4. "Trans-Europe Express" ("Trans Europa Express") 6:52
5. "Metal on Metal" ("Metall auf Metall") 2:11
6. "Abzug[a]" 4:53
7. "Franz Schubert" 4:26
8. "Endless Endless" ("Endlos Endlos") 0:55
-------------
Total time : about 43 minutes

A short review of the concert:

The show starts promptly again at 20:30 and 'Trans-Europe Express' is
performed in full. Well, I say "in full", but a little qualification is needed
here. 'Endless Endless' isn't played, but since it's just a 55 second reprise of
'Europe Endless', I doubt anyone in the audience cares.
On the other hand, whilst the 'Trans-Europe Express' album clocks in at nearly
43 minutes, this evening's rendition of it is a mere 24. 'Europe Endless' is
nearly 4 minutes shorter than on record, 'The Hall Of Mirrors' is 2 1/2 minutes
shorter, 'Showroom Dummies' 2 minutes shorter and 'Franz Schubert' reduced to
a third of its album length. Even the title track is significantly shorter
than its studio counterpart.

If you'd come specifically to hear this album, you might be left feeling a
little short-changed by this abridgement.

next up : man machine,

this album is very well represented, but the track order is different..

=============================================
4 man machine
25. The Man Machine (Bonus Content)
26. Spacelab (Bonus Content)
27. The Model (Bonus Content)
28. Neon Lights (Bonus Content)
29. The Robots (Bonus Content)
30. Metropolis (Bonus Content)

SET LIST: from live at paridiso
-----------------------------------
01. [00:48] [intro]

02. [05:19] The Man-Machine
03. [05:28] Spacelab
04. [03:42] The Model
05. [06:01] Neon Lights
26. [07:46] The Robots
06. [05:25] Metropolis
=============================
total time : about 34 minutes

Side one
No. Title Writer(s) Length
1. "The Robots" ("Die Roboter") 6:11
2. "Spacelab" 5:51
3. "Metropolis" 5:59

Side two
No. Title Writer(s) Length
4. "The Model" ("Das Model") 3:38
5. "Neon Lights" ("Neonlicht") 9:03
6. "The Man-Machine" ("Die Mensch-Maschine") 5:28
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Total length: 36:10

here's a short review of it:
---------------------------------------------------------------
The show kicks off as punctually as ever, with 'The Man-Machine' leading the
charge. As with 'Trans-Europe Express', the playing order has been shuffled
for the live performance, but it would be quite the puritan who fretted about
such things.

'The Robots' was certainly never going to start the show, anyway, as it's
consistently saved for the first encore, when our flesh and blood friends are
replaced by their nattily dressed, youthful likenesses.

here's a review of the concert
----------------------------------------
The live execution of the 'Computer World' album omits 'Computer World 2' and
'It's More Fun To Compute'. 'Computer World 2' is basically just a reprise, so
it's not really missed, but 'It's More Fun To Compute' is arguably a more
substantial omission. One could contend that 'It's More Fun To Compute' and 'Home Computer' are
actually seamlessly blended together nowadays, but I have chosen to credit
only the latter to remain consistent with 'The Mix' and 'Minimum-Maximum'
albums, both of which also feature the segued version of the two songs, but
include only 'Home Computer' in the track listing.

The live playing order is once again not that of the album, and some of the
songs are again abbreviated, so that even with the addition of the non-album
'Dentaku' (the Japanese version of 'Pocket Calculator'), the live performance
of the album is almost a third shorter than the original. Again,
this is not an implicit complaint, but merely an observation. 'Pocket
Calculator' is a great version, even though it's been shorn of two of its five
minutes.

They haven't, i think you misread the post. They ARE including it, i just didn't have a time from the
concert I had to give an estimate. They may not have played it that often, but it is there.

Check out the video clip links i posted to get an idea of what it will sound like.

The only appeal any of this has for me is the notion of hearing "Trans-Europa Express" live, my favorite Kraftwerk album and the one that I never hear my favorite songs from when I see them live! Now I see that the album is truncated anyway. Sigh. I only got "Minimum/Maximum" on CD/DVD recently and that will have to do for my "live" Kraftwerk needs; unless I will be able to download "Europa Endlos," my absolute favorite Kraftwerk song. I'll never have a 3D TV or probably even Blu-Ray so there we go. No interest. Too bad Kraftwerk were completely dance oriented for the last 40 years. It's limited their development and got them trapped in a stylistic cul-de-sac.

electric cafe is another great album, and all the
tracks are represented in shorter form.

the track order is different of course, as they use
musique non stop as the last track in all their shows.

techno pop is severly shortened.

here is a brief review of it:
-------------------------------------

The album's running order is necessarily altered tonight to allow the
aforementioned three song suite to close the show, as it always does.
Even allowing for that, however, 'Electric Cafe' is still moved to the top of the
set, whereas it comes last on the actual album.

next up is the mix

Thanks for the clarification on the "Computer World" album, "I love "Electric Cafe", the best sounding Kraftwerk album for me, again disappointed that they have truncated this one quite a bit.

.....I still can't find an official track listing for the CD's!!
