Here's the official video for La Mitrailleuse (machine gun). It's based on Christopher Nevinson's 1915 painting of the same name.

Got to say I'm very disappointed with this track, not what I was expecting at all.

Same here. Bad choice for a single.

I am hoping this is one of only one or two experimental tracks. Occasionally they'll throw some over-sampled tracks together either for a release or b-side. English Electric had Please Remain Seated, Decimal and Atomic Ranch. I'm wondering if this will be as experimental as Dazzle Ships. But I do have to agree that I wouldn't have released that first.

I very much doubt this will be a single just a free download of an album track.

This would not be the single , if you remember on the last album they had some animations for some of the experimental tracks before Metroland was released as the first single .

If it was the single i would be disappointed but i think as one of their experimental tracks it is ok and i really like it when they do things like this ( doesnt always work) i think the combination of the track and the animation is quite haunting

looking forward to the album , one of the main bands that still get me excited when they release a new album

I like the new track very much - certainly perks up an interest in what they came up with on album. An intriguing teaser for the new stuff!

sorry, but that sounds like subpar kraftwerk... don't they have any original music anymore?

I actually thought it was a nice track.

OMD have always been fans of Kraftwerk and were greatly influenced by them. Andy McCluskey even said he considers Kraftwerk the "most important band in the history of popular music" and their use of technology has done more to influence today's music than The Beatles.

Personally I'm glad they're still around making music and am looking forward to The Punishment of Luxury.

Yep I am pleased they are still making music as well , their last album was great

I I like the retro kraftwerk feel to it , they are not alone in using elements like that ( look at MetroLand and also Komputer from the 90's)

And if you can compare the single to the animation music they bought out last week , who in the music industry is still brave enough to do two very differrent things like that

:D The new single "Isotype" is outstanding, classic OMD mixed in with a bit of Kraftwerk and a little influence of Belgian band Metroland.

Hope the rest of the album is as good as this, the initial track they put out when the annoucement about the album was made I didn't like though.
