Blancmange - Unfurnished Rooms (album)

Blancmange's new album was written and recorded by Neil Arthur and co-produced by Benge (Wrangler/John Foxx & The Maths and Gazelle Twin co-producer). It’s been a fantastically creative period for both of them, releasing their debut album as a new electronic duo – Fader’s First Light - in June 2017 and then the final sessions for Unfurnished Rooms followed immediately in the summer.

For the new Blancmange record, all the songs were written by Arthur while Benge added percussion and layers of analogue synth, with the pair then mixing the record together in the latter’s Memetune studios in Cornwall. 'Don't Get Me Wrong' features John Grant on piano and backing vocals.

what an uninspiring album..

i don't like the slow electro that most of the album is...
there's at most maybe 1 or 2 songs that i might listen too again.

for the last several albums, after ''blanc burn', they've decided to go with artsy moody electronic minimalism,
and not the fun, creative sound they used to have.

it's not even as good as the neil arthur solo album, which i loved.


sorry, not wasting time or more money on this one.

I rarely judge an album on the first listen as it take a few spins to really appreciate some albums, in my opinion. Especially when it is from an Artist as has proved themselves in the past as being amazing again and again

Every since the late 1950's Rock/Pop artists have been trying to crate longevity out of a transitory music career by trying to stay relevant. Many musicians and performers have taken missteps into the musical world of Disco, Rap, Psychedelic, Country, and Pop/Hair Metal, to name a few, to later on regret their choices. Blancmange is trying to stay relevant and modern. Similar to John Foxx who has had a fairly successful 2nd run with his musical career, Blancmange is trying to follow a similar path. 80's Blancmange, like 80's John Foxx are all-time classics but they're trying break new ground and be relevant instead of becoming a New Wave Jukebox.
