Who else needs remixes and rarities?

Who else needs remixes and rarities?

Postby humanracer » Sat Apr 21, 2018 10:38 am

King and A Flock of Seagulls have most of their mixes out on CD but what about other groups. Aren't Howard Jones mixes scattered across obscure limited edition CDs? What about ABC, although I heard Blank & Jones tried to do something with them but were stopped.

Love the whole idea behind Remixes & Rarities. Not in every case when it came to choice of artists and what was actually included. I remember the Bonnie Tyler one that was somewhat lacking in remixes and rarities, but it was okay. One of the first releases was from Paul Young and even that one didn't include everything that fans desired which was not available yet on CD. For me it was enough, but maybe not for die-hard fans. There was another remix of Come Back And Stay for sure, without the scratch sounds.

I can think of 2 that were very good: Thompson Twins and AFOS. Especially AFOS because I had all the Cherry Pop reissues from them and found the Remixes & Rarities double disc exactly do the trick for me. With the exclusion of (It's Not Me) Talking and Factory Music (it's B-side) which was recently discussed here, everything that wasn't included before, found it's place on the Remixes & Rarities edition. Was also satisfied and happy with the sound quality. Everything from masters.

I understand that ABC will get this kind of treatment too, in the near future. Blank & Jones talked about this in one of their interviews on Paul Sinclair's site. They already have a kind of tracklist ready, which still fluctuates around some tracks.

Would love to see one for The Cure (although, with the coming up of the Deluxe Edition of Mixed Up this is no longer a wish list for me). If it's happening, don't forget the 12 inch versions of Primary, Love Cats and Inbetween Days.
:)

Another suggestion would be New Order, but that will probably happen when hell freezes over. :D

What I would like to see happen (and this is very personal and very high on my wish list) is a release for the Time Bandits.

Cherry Red are supposed to be reissuing his back catalogue but they are taking their time as so far we have have only had yet another best of.

To be fair both Japan and China Crisis have pretty much been covered if you have the recent remasters from China Crisis and The Singles by Japan. Two bands i would like to see get this treatment is Wang Chung and Then Jerico.

I'd also like to see Wang Chung, mainly for the 7" edits of "Don't Let Go" and "To Live And Die In L.A."

Wang Chung yessss! Let's see what this 80swave website does since he's back online. The two Berlin cds are expected in June according to Amazon, but no date of Wang Chung cds yet.

Nik Kershaw - a proper comprehensive compilation would be great with the Phil Harding remix of "Nobody Knows" being included.
