This looks interesting

.3CDs OF SINGLES, B-SIDES AND PEEL SESSIONS FROM THE INEVITABLE RECORDS ROSTER - THE LEGENDARY LIVERPOOL LABEL..PRODUCED BY THE TEAM BEHIND THE HUGELY SUCCESSFUL 'REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT - THE SOUND OF LIVERPOOL 1976-1989'.MANY TRACKS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED OR NEVER BEFORE ON CD..INCLUDES PETE BURNS' NIGHTMARES IN WAX AND DEAD OR ALIVE - SINGLES AND PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED PEEL SESSIONS..PLUS LIVERPOOL LEGENDS - CHINA CRISIS, WAH! HEAT, IT'S IMMATERIAL, MODERN EON, BOX OF TOYS, FREEZE FRAME AND MANY MORE..INCLUDES SLEEVENOTES FROM INEVITABLE FOUNDER JEREMEY LEWIS.In the late 1970s and 1980s, Jeremy Lewis established and ran Liverpool's Inevitable Records, and in doing so provided what he calls an "incubator" for an impressive selection of the talent emerging from the city at that time. From PETE BURNS and DEAD OR ALIVE to CHINA CRISIS, WAH! HEAT and others, Inevitable provided the launchpad for many successful careers. Operating initially out of Lewis' Amazon Studios, and mutating as the years passed from an outlet for the city's spiky post-punk sounds to a synth-pop, commercially minded imprint with major label backing, Inevitable proved popular with JOHN PEEL and found admirers from across the '80s musical spectrum.Presented here for the first time is an overview of the label, including a disc of contemporary Peel Sessions from key artists and a 3,000 word account of its story by Jeremey Lewis himself. Of particular interest to many will be never-before-heard (or re-issued) work by a young PETE BURNS - his first Nightmares In Wax single, two DEAD OR ALIVE singles PLUS two PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED Dead Or Alive PEEL SESSIONS are included. A further look at the wonderful music explored in 'REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT' this is an in-depth look at the roots of several special careers, produced with input from Inevitable founder Jeremey Lewis.

Hey Cherry, now take all the box of toys/The light tracks & put on a cd & release as a separate disc or two. Same with the nightmares in wax/dead or alive. That is what you need to do

This does look good, but I wonder how much will be sourced from vinyl?

Interesting that the studio version of Be Suspicious by China Crisis is on this yet they didn’t include it on the recent reissue of Difficult Shapes.

Looks very appetizing indeed, but it seems that the 12" versions of Contrasting Strangers / Pride Of Winning arent included...... :(

Mmmm. Not favorable reviews in Amazon, though.
the two fist disc were mastered from vinyl and have some annoying noises, very compressed sound and less dynamics
the only disc that worth is the 3rd, the BBC sessions, mastered from the original tapes.

Out of stock at cherry red website :(

Who can honestly say they are surprised by this. I completely expected it to be from vinyl, and poorly done, other than the BBC recordings. I have purchased a copy from ImportCDS for a mere $13 for the sole purpose of the DOA BBC sessions. I have yet to get a shipping notice though.

I was reading on another forum about a recent Latoya Jackson reissue on Cherry Red, how one guy dropped out of the project because CR asked him to provide his best vinyl rips for a number of songs, making some BS excuse why they weren't using tapes from Universal. But considering how people continue to gobble up those substandard CR releases, I don't know how anyone can ever expect them to be forced into some form of quality control.

Just awaiting my copy from Juno and its quite distressing to hear such comments.
Although if its only based on one published review Amazon.uk so far, maybe it wont be that bad after all.....

I bought it solely for The Light releases.
Contrasting Strangers is currently available on Revolutionary Spirit - The Sound Of Liverpool box as well,
but that one is much more expensive and also not really to my liking as a set overall.

It is interesting to see how varied of our musical preferences are. I love the Revolutionary Spirit box, such a great collection of fantastic bands and songs from Liverpool.
I got the Birth of a nation collection the other week, but not had the chance of listening yet.

More bad reviews have been showing on Amazon. Sounds like another utter waste. It's terrible the label cares nothing about their reputation and just want to pump out terrible quality crap time and time again. I wonder if good ole' Iain McNay is a millionaire at this point?
