I take it this is some strange usage of the word 'interesting' I wasn't previously aware of?

HAHAHAHAHAAA to BigManRestless!!! My thoughts exactly. Many of these selections, which are for the most part the typical go-to 80s comp tracks, neither fall under "anthem" nor "synthpop".

What is it that makes compilers choose the less synthetic tracks from some performers? Do they hate synthpop or have no grasp of its meaning? And why dump lots of throwaway dancepop in there? It's all like nobody even cares at all

It is an odd compilation. It is good value - but it is a missed opportunity.
I might purchase it as it is good value.

Its a complete mystery to me which market are they aiming for when releasing such a compilation.

If they are (once again) aiming for a typical 45-50 year old 80s freaks (like me) who buys these religiously, then this is a complete failure
because why would I ever bother which such a track listing that includes songs from the 90s, 00s and beyond. People like "Tinie Tempah"
(I even dont know what it could sound like - I have just heard about it in some sort of modern rap context)......and even great bands like Moloko
have no place in such a compilation. For example, Stars by Dubstar is a wonderful single - maybe one of the best from 1995, but, once again,
I dont like seeing it at all on such a compilation - if, and only if.....its aimed like people, true 80s sound fans like myself.

If the idea was to do - a synth pop evolution throughout the decades kind of compilation - it would be a fine attempt - but I doubt that the sales factor would be
favorable in comparison with making a strictly 80s kind of compilation that usually goes well with its target audience.

Maybe the idea was: how can we finally release a cd-box that no-one will be buying so we can say: hey, why even bother releasing cds and we just offer streaming these days...
Easily one of the worst compilations ever... whoever is responsible for this should hopefully have to apply for a new job tomorrow!
