I believe the phrase is - TAKE MY MONEY NOW!

Great new Scott, can't wait to have these finally done properly on CD.

Are there any alternative sleeve shots of the Anvil Scott that you might include?

Really looking forward to these Scott , loved your work on the First Visage album

Any view on when you can release the tracklisting , looking forward to finally having the Anvil extended on CD (hope its included)

I liked the suggestion of you doing a 12" compilation along the lines of retro active but would imagine it would be a licencing nightmare

even if you did something like the Mood collection you did for some of the more obscure bands

Vision UK , This island earth spring to mind

all the best

I'm holding on to the track listing until it's confirmed what of the masters I requested can be found and are usable. There's really only 1 previously unreleased mix of a song that I want to ensure they can find before I announce everything. But The Anvil will have appropriate bonus material which will include all of the original 12" mixes.

Not a fan of Visage — but very much a fan of Rubellan Remasters, and excited to see two follow-ups to the label's biggest success story so far.

FanFan,

Just out of curiosity how can you NOT be a fan of Visage?

Visage is the apex where Glam, Bowie, Kraftwerk, Roxy Music, and Art Rock intersect to create New Romantic.

Visage is a super-group of talent; Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Dave Formula, John McGeoch,
Rusty Egan, Steve Strange, Barry Adamson, Richard Burgess and Gary Barnacle.

Fade To Grey is one of the top all-time greatest New Wave songs ever.
The Anvil is one of the most sophisticated, mature, and euphonic New Wave recordings ever made.

Hoping this will just be a civil disagreement, but — VIENNA strikes me as peak New Romantic, so there's at least a nod to one member of the band being discussed here. Visage mainly struck me as kind of hollow posturing for the VIP sections. It seems like a pretty rough contrast between that and the heartfelt musings of, say, The Associates and Soft Cell.

That's true. Even though the "New Romantic" period was a short lived period, I believe it was also a combination of style and sound. During that early time period, there was also that split of "New Romantic" and "Techno-pop". Human League & Soft Cell were this early anomaly. Even though they were using strictly synthesizers and drum machines, their songs and style didn't fall strictly into the category of "Techno-pop".

"New Romantic" had more of a "Bowie/Roxy Music" sound and style to it. More Glam/Art Rock typical bass, drums, guitar, and synth. Where as "Techno-pop" was more Kraftwerk mixed with a disco or Hi-NRG sound concerned with BPMs made for dancing. Most of the "New Romantic" bands evolved into Sophisti-pop and the "Techno-pop" bands evolved into "Synth-pop" or Hi-NRG.

The pinnacle of the "New Romantic" sound/recordings for me is Japan - Tin Drum. This is the "Avalon" of the "New Romantic" movement.
