Who is releasing this and precisely which hallucinogen were they under the influence of when they mapped out the track listings? There were tons of mixes for the "Octopus" singles (esp if they're including "Stay With Me Tonight" and the Yellow Magic Orchestra tracks), so to A) offer meerly a smattering of said mixes and to B) offer that sad selection only on VINYL for God's sake? What the...?

And to instead load up Disc 2 with...DEMOS? I have to be honest, and maybe I'm in the minority here, but of all the expanded or deluxe editions I've ever bought that featured demos, I may have breezed through them all once, never to bother with them again. I don't understand the industry's current obsession with demos and live tracks, when there is a heep of material that fans truly want.

The recent reissue of another League album, "Secrets", is a perfect example of an expanded edition done properly. All of the mixes from various countries and formats brought together in one cohesive collection. No subpar demos, no clunky out of place live tracks. Even unreleased yet completed recordings or mixes would at least have had a smidge more value.

This release is, sadly, the absolute definition of a "missed opprtunity".

It's on Rhino. Yes the track selection is not very good. If you're a hardcore fan you'll be forced to buy both the cds and Lps (provided your turntable works).

Well, "demo" can mean different things here. With a good home studio, it could, hypothetically, mean a nice track with good sound.
Not 50% music and 50% tape hiss, like in the old days. And, hence, an opportunity to hear a well known track in an early stage.
The emphasis here are on "could" and "hypothetically".
Then again, in the A VERY BRITISH SYNTHESIZER GROUP Box from 2016 there were some "Early Versions" that in some cases were even better than the released version.
(Well at least IMHO of course) So, is "demo" same as "early version"? Time will tell....

As a massive Human League fan I'd say they got this right. I'm far more interested in demos I've never heard than poor remixes I already own and probably played once a quarter of a century ago.

I'd be willing to bet the bonus tracks of both formats will be on download / streaming for those who want to hear both but don't want to buy both, and if you go for the bundle it's (surprisingly) cheap. Especially if you think how ludicrously over priced the Human League Anthology box set was.

Do any sellers have the separate formats available to pre-order yet?

Can't be bothered with the bundle, just want the 2CD set.

Since I consider "Octopus" the one great HL album after "Dare" ["Secrets" rated "good" by my reckoning] I might be up for a 2xCD with demos. I only have one disc of "Tell Me When" remixes. They ranged from all right to poor. I'm not sure I would bite for 3-4xCDs with every mid-late 90s remix on it! Not my cup of tea. So if I saw the 2xCD in the wilds, I might buy it, depending on price. The days of obsessive HL collection ended about 36 years ago!

Agree with you Fred, leaving the remixes only on the vinyl edition,, is somewhat bizarre :?

LMAO Fred. All I want on these disc 2's are just the extended remixes that stick to the regular song, good dub versions, and instrumentals. Demos work for some band and not for others and I don't mind them but I don't want them in large quantities. Remixes are hit and miss but are sometimes so awful especially when they are done so out of context from the original version. I don't think I have ever recovered from hearing those Talk Talk remixes from that remix album.

I'll side with the people who like the CD tracklisting. The remixes from this period are not great, and if someone wanted to collect of of them they can still find most of the CD singles pretty cheaply. Demos and B-sides are fine with me.

I'm wondering, though, why they've overlooked Romantic?, which is a great album that spawned some good remixes.

all those mixes that they put on vinyl, have been on CD before.

there's quite a few vinyl only remixes though..

i'm glad they skipped Romantic, that album was pretty poor overall
in comparison to others.

who knows, they keep jumping around, so maybe they'll fill in the gaps later.

Does anyone have the US 12 inch or promo:
it has;

Tell Me When (Edit Version Overworld Mix) 5:25

Which is exactly the same time as :
Tell me When (Overworld Mix) 5:25

are there any differences? or is it just another name change.

Brother, you said a mouthful! Skip the album, buy the singles. Even so, I thought it was better than "Credo." "Crash" doesn't exist to me.

skipping Romantic is a big mistake if you are a true fan like I. I will get this double CD for sure. Remixes should have been added but at least the better track listing is on the CD in my opinion. Phew...lucky me since I do not buy vinyl
