Real Life (Send Me An Angel) is back with their first album in 11 years, entitled Sirens. It's more of an EP with 6 songs. It isn't perfect but some of the songs are a nice step back in time. Sirens dropped last week on Spotify and Apple Music.

Their previous release was an album of remakes of synth/new wave hits back in 2009. Contains their version of Sweet Dreams, Blue Monday, Nowhere Girl, Tainted Love as well as a few remixes and re-recordings of Send Me an Angel. Not bad.

I liked Real Life a lot. Their debut was one of the great early 80s albums that got decent commercial traction. I was lucky to see them open up for Berlin's "Love Life" tour and that was fantastic. They smoked the headliner. I only have their music as far as 1990's "Lifetime" album and am happy to see them pulling them selves up from the morass of recording covers for Cleopatra. Why does that label persist in having bands do that?

Agreed on the Cleopatra covers and remixes. For the last 20 years or so I can name maybe 5-10 songs I would say are worthy of a listen. The one that comes to mind is Mission UK's version of U2's All I Want Is You. IMHO it rivals the original.
