There is a US 12" which has two versions:
https://www.discogs.com/Classix-Nouveau ... se/1700237
Long version: 4:40
Short version: 3:11

Are these the same as the two album versions (US / UK)?
And the so called "New version" (3.19)?
And the 7" single version (3.11)?

There's only the two versions. The misleading 'new version' on the Very Best Of CD was just the single version slowed down. They are the same recordings.

Looking forward to this release! Even if it is just a rehash of the previous Cherry Red CDs, it includes some additional single versions that were missing from those. I do hope that the current track list is incorrect however, because this set appears to be missing the 12" versions of both "Is It a Dream" and "The End or the Beginning."

I've just received an copy of this box set to review. While I haven't had the chance to play it yet, the mastering is credited to Lewis Whymark and Nick Watson at Fluid Mastering.
I don't think they were credited on previous Cherry Red Classix CDs?

Any chance you can share a track or two from Secret so I can download and verify if it's still vinyl or not?

Sure - which track(s) on the original CD sounded especially bad? I don't have it to hand.

Something like Never Never Comes, The Unloved or Heart From The Start have enough quiet passages that I will be able to tell right away if they are from vinyl.

I just got to review two songs from Secret on the 'new' box set. Sad to confirm but they are the same vinyl transfers from the previous CD. You can hear the turntable rumble in the quiet intro of Never Never Comes, and that opening sound from Heart From The Start that was lopped off on the original CD is still missing here, along with the usual turntable and vinyl anomalies. Very disappointed but not at all surprised. Another low quality, low cost Cherry Red rehash.

Also keen to find out if the single version of Guilty and the 12" version of Is It a Dream are included anywhere in the set?

They aren't - there's a 7" version of Is It A Dream alongside an 'edit' no idea where it came from.

Album version 4.17
7" version 3.38
Edit 4.01

I can almost understand missing the 12" of It Is a Dream, because that was also missing from Cherry Red's previous releases...but the 7" single version of Guilty is missing? Seriously?? That's ridiculous, it was their one gigantic US hit! Granted they had other hits in other territories, but leaving it out of this set is unforgiveable.

For context, the LP version of Guilty was also released as the 12", where it was labeled as "New Version." But the 7" version was used for the music video, which had massive rotation on MTV.

Hi! Is there any chance to hear the Forever And A Day from Secret?
I got all the Classix Nouveaux album edited by Cherry Red Records. But The Secret album sounds very bad on the Forever And A Day track. And I love this track so much, but sounds very bad. I ordered the new 4CD compilation. I hope the new edition sounds much better.

Thanks in advance.

See the reply above from Rubellan - these are the same masters.

One nice thing (at least) is they have retained the gatefold cover of Night People.

I received this set today - haven't listened to the entire set and I'm not an audiophile, but I am happy to report that the 7" single version of Guilty is included after all! It's on disc 1, track 2.
The 12" version of Guilty, also known as Guilty (New Version), is on disc 2 track 2. This makes sense because it was indeed the album version on the Night People album.
But alas, the 12" version of Is It a Dream is definitely missing. It's an odd omission, since they did actually include that "Edit" version on disc 3 track 20. This "Edit" version was also used on the Cherry Red Liberty Singles Collection CD, but I don't know if that was its first appearance or if it originated somewhere else.

I hope some audiofile like Rubellan will check the sound quality. Anyway, I am confused about the "edit" of Is It a Dream (CD 3 track 20) which is 4 minutes long. I have only seen it on the 2010 2-CD "The Liberty Singles Collection". (The LP version is 4.16, the single version is 3.35.) Was it first released on that 2-CD?
