The Edge Of The 80s

The Edge Of The 80s

Postby xymox970 » Wed Dec 16, 2020 1:40 pm ... e/15943895

After going through countless faceless compilations of 80s material over the last few years
I have to say this one from 2020 is quite a pleasant surprise.

The title is, naturally, appealing for some of us on the lookout for rarities as always.
One cannot expect too much, though, from this sort of compilation,
but once you get past that, one discovers that is it put together very nicely by someone who obviously knows their stuff.

Here are the examples:

The Cure followed by The Creatures, Adam & The Ants followed by Bow Wow Wow, The Mission followed by All About Eve,
Spear of Destiny followed by Theatre Of Hate......

Anyway, 5-6 GBP for a 3CD collection of this caliber is not a bad deal IMHO.......

This is a decent compilation.

Left Of Centre + Pretty in pink from the movie.

Covid really hit music releases this year

What makes me the most pleased in this collection is the appearance of the title "Soul Train" from Swans Way.
The only album they made "The Fugitive Kind" from 1984 is spendid.
I think today we would call it Sophitipop, a genre that mixes the New Wave current with Jazz and Soul. In the genre, I think of The Style Council or Blue Rondo a La Turk.

Postby xymox970 » Mon Dec 21, 2020 3:13 pm make matters more confusing, there is another 3CD compilation from 2008 with an identical title
which looks to be just as interesting as this one.... ... se/2616689
