I remember the whole "Paisley Underground" scene. People from Los Angeles didn't warm up to it. Until the revival music of the 90s, the 80s was about moving forward. The psychedelic/garage sound of the 60s was not that far removed. Most of the youth culture of the 80s had parents who were Hippies from the 60s and until the mid-nineties, it was not cool to listen to your parent's music. Los Angeles also had a great "Rockabilly" scene but it never gained traction for the same reasons. The Paisley Underground scene had some great bands and musicians, but being L,A., image was sometimes more important than substance. The Bangs (The Bangles) wouldn't have made it big or got out of L.A. if they didn't modernize their sound and image. Has anyone heard of The Pandoras? Trends and fashion move though Los Angeles so quickly that so many bands get overlooked or forgotten. This release is a great representation of that scene.
