Well, there's the long answer and the short answer. The short answer is MONEY.

The longer answer is:

Some of those albums have been released on CD - at least those of the CD era - and only at the time of their initial release.

FYI - i know these two are on CD (though, of course, out of print):

And yes, I am sure that the Dirty Looks album is on CD as I have it - it's a complete anthology and was only releas

Thanks for explaining that. However, sometimes I need to blow off steam that such great music is not on cd![:(!]

At least they should make them available as high-quality digital downloads. Would't that avoid all the costs?

That was a very informative post jfiber. It answered a lot of questions I have had about why some of this music has never made the jump to CD.

What would it take for these record companies to just sell the rights and tapes outright instead of a licensi

This thread raises an interesting question. How much would it cost for say, Slow Children or an interested party to buy the rights to sell the music as a download? How much do you think can be made if you could? I'm referring to out of print music not c
