Blir's Merry Cover Comp

Blir's Merry Cover Comp

Postby Frau_Blucher » Tue Dec 27, 2005 9:36 am

Hope you guys find this a fun comp - 30 of my favorite covers. It's a mish-mash of New Wavers covering other genres, other genres covering New Wavers, and New Wavers covering eachother. If you listen to nothing else, at least catch the Born to Run/Transmission bookends...both are absolute rockers. And can you spot the various juxtapositions? Cheers.

Thanks Blir, this is very cool. I LOVE the Heaven 17 version of Don't Fear the Reaper. I have always loved that song.

Cool, but "Train In Vain" was an original Clash composition (???)

Doh, what a brain fart Rewind...I had Annie Lennox in mind the whole time. Here you go, swap this out:

And yeah Marie, Reaper seems like a universally loved song. I've got other covers by Big Country and Oingo Boingo too, but they seem like kinda pointless straight-up re-dos. But I'm glad someone's liking the upload...it's sometimes hard to know if anyone's even grabbing them without any feedback.

OK, and I know I'm being picky here -- forgive me! -- but didn't Moby merely REMIX "Souvenir," not actually cover it? Were you thinking, perhaps, of New Order's "Temptation," which Moby truly covers on Hotel?

I only listened to a couple of them so far. (My kids won't give me any peace today [:(!])
But:
I also liked That's Entertainment - Morrissey. That is another one of my favorite songs. I will be listening to the rest a little at a time.
Thanks again Blir.

Blir,

Any chance of uploading this comp again? Or maybe someone will share it on the hub... I just gotta hear Devo do "Head Like a Hole".

Thanks for putting this together.

Noooooooooooo!!! I just tried to d/l and here's what I got:

File Transfer: Unavailable
Unfortunately, the link you have clicked is not available.

The file has most likely exceeded its allotted bandwidth or has been removed by the original sender or a recipient.

Oh well, guess I'll have to go to the hub... [:D] I'm thanking you already, Blir! [:I]

I do have some of those songs though, but I'd really love to have the rest!
