Hall and Oates Private Eyes mini-LP issue

Hall and Oates Private Eyes mini-LP issue

New wave? Kind of. I think I can get away with posting this here. [:)]

I have been buying a lot of the Hall and Oates paper sleeve collection discs from Japan. They are remastered under the K2 24-bit moniker. I've done my research on this and realize that despite the claimed superiority of the K2 remastering, it is still limited to Redbook standards. Regardless, I am not here to debate the legitimacy of K2 processing but rather an issue I am having with one of the releases and thought someone here might have a copy they could check.

On Private Eyes (the mini-LP edition) BVCM-37293 catalogue number, there appears to be a brief moment of static coming out of the left channel at 2:15 on track 3, "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)." Granted, it's incredibly brief and most people wouldn't notice it, but for my OCD self it drives me insane. I have been under the impression that this was the definitive release of the album insofar as Redbook CDs go. Furthermore, that it was superior to the US remaster though I have not compared the two. I think what I like most is that they come in LP reproductive sleeves (I am incredibly fond of those). Regardless, given JVC/BMG Victor's claim to maintain the highest standards, I find it hard to believe that they could have overlooked such a glaring error. I compared the mini-LP issue to recent Japanese reissue that is identical (insofar as content) to the US remaster and did not hear the static. Every other mini-LP release I have of Hall and Oates's albums do not exhibit a problem like this. Granted, I have not listened to them too intensely. Given JVC/BMGs claim that the K2 process is the foremost in redbook CD quality, I find this quite disappointing. Not to mention the cost to my wallet as the imports are bloody expensive.

To sum up the long post, does anyone else here have the Private Eyes mini-LP Japanese reissue and if so did they notice the static? If I am obsessing about this and should devote my time elsewhere, feel free to tell me that as well.
