You ended up with "hungry like the wolf"? I think their greatest tunes are "the chauffeur" and "planet earth". Synth-Heaven! :-)

I don't see Simple Minds' "Don't you forget about me" as new wave. It's M.O.R. rock, similar to U2. They'd left their new wave sound far behind them by then. Similar feleings with the Smiths. Fantastic band but new wave? Never. The Smiths were and always

Definately true about "Don't You...". Did this come from the same band that did "The Amercian"?! Regarding Smiths, I know what you're saying. Maybe everything I mentally classify as New Wave is just all the great alterno stuff from 1976 to 1989. However,

Here's a challenge for a new wave compilation.

Have new wave songs that aren't on ANY other 80s compilation. There's a disgusting amount of overlap on so-called '80s compilations, you could probably have it all on one box set.

I would replace "Cars" with either "Are Friends Electric" or even the oft-forgotten "Clones" by Alice Cooper - similar disonant feel. But what a great topic! Other swap-outs for their better-known brethren without delving into complete obscurities:

I'm so glad you haven't included "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo, or "Mickey" by Tony Basil. Also your a little heavy on the Go-Go's, (IMHO). I'd try not to included the same band twice on a compilation. You might also consider created sub-genre compilations a
