WEIRDEST VINYL RECORD YOU GOT!

Postby DSR » Sat Aug 19, 2006 9:00 pm

It has been more than TWO DECADES since I collected Vinyl Records and the weirdest Vinyl Record I got was an AZTEC CAMERA "LOVE" album. YUP![8D] It's weird because instead of the songs from the "LOVE" album engraved on the vinyl, it contains the AZTEC CAMERA "KNIFE" album. Talking about mistakes on pressing. The "KNIFE" album inside the "LOVE" package Vinyl. Amazing![;)]

I once picked up the L12 of Nitzer Ebb's Control, I'm Here, only to find some bluegrass or folk record inside (can't remember who it was and didn't bother putting it on). Total disappointment as that was one of the few NEP12s that I was missing. Got my money back. Even the dude at the store was making jokes about it.

I once bought the regular import of Depeche Modes 'Enjoy The Silence' in a used store only to find that someone had replaced the regular pedestrian version with the quite rare and expensive one sided/ etched The Quad: Final Mix....without the actual sleeve, it's really not that valuable, but twas cool.

Not TOO weird, but on the spine of my 12" single of KTP's "Certain things are Likely" the band listed is Level 42, not KTP. And for a long time in my collection Level 42 followed KTP alphabetically so it seemed to make sense it went there. (..Now I have some Laibach in the collection to separate the two).

One can't be too anal about their record collection.

Maybe it's not weird, but definitely ccol. I've got a couple of copies of Kraftwerk's Neon Lights ep. It glows in the dark; something you can't do with CD's.

I bought a Flock of Seagulls' I Ran 45 for .50 at a tag sale. When I got home and listened to it, it was Cheap Trick. I hate mislabeled records. [:(]

I got that one too! Any others glow in the dark? I have yellow, gold purple, white, clear, orange, and red viynal (and of course "black!") records. [8D]

I once bought a record (if you want to call it that) from RRR records. It was part of an anti-art series. The artists were called Honeymoon Productions. It was a brick or glop of Plastic vinyl and instructions on how to bake the vinyl and make your own record... encouraging you to put sand in it and other items to make sounds..

I guess the other weird ones would be the one sided records: one by The Normal with Robert Rental (Live at Runton, I think) and a laser etched holographic 7" by 3D. Don't think I've ever played either one.

I guess it depends on whatyou mean by "weirdest."

I have Bowie narrating Peter & the Wolf with Eugene Ormandy's Orchestra on green vinyl.

Split Enz "True Colours" with the rectangular and triangular shapes lasored into the vinyl

One of Tomita's albums (forget which one) on a disgusting vomit-pink vinyl.

Synergy "Cords" on clear vinyl

Kilburn and the High Roads (featuring Ian Dury) "Handsome" on red vinyl.

But these are all pretty common.

I have an obscure Eastern European record that is in the shape of a Banana from The Velvet Underground. The record portion is the circular part in the middle.
