I use an AKAI 100C turntable. I purchased it used a few years ago for $75.00. I know it's not up at B&O quality level but at my budget limits the Akai was a good replacement for my dying Dual 1226, and of course is a step up from rim drive to belt drive. It is an adequate table and plays my vynil well. I can still get replacement styli/cartridge at Bleakers stereo TV. Connected to a Technics receiver (last model to still have a mag phono input) and a pair of homemade speakers containing 2 12" woofers each, midrange and tweeter I actually get rich, decent sound. Being a nostalgist, I still like vynil but do use CD's a lot as well. A lot of wave now is rare and not available on CD.[8D]

B&O is quality? I always thought they were for people who cared more about the look than the sound.

They're not all that bad actually, I would never call them audiophile,(one look under the hood would tell you why) but for reasonably priced sound, you really can't beat them. Another plus is the ridiculously low tracking weight (esp. the tangential arm models) of 1g. Very little wear and tear on vinyl.

On the downside, B&O TT's can only use their own cartridges, most likely to do with their overall design. These cartridges are very difficult to find, and AFAIK, there is only one outfit making aftermarket products for them.

They are fun to watch though, no doubt about that.
