Straange. Encountered this only on my new system:
1. Record a vinyl session in CDEx. result: perfect audio.
Downsides: no real-time indicator of volume, etc. Defaults to 44K instead of 48K
2. Record a vinyl session in Audacity: Result: UNGODLY LOUD. Try to reduce the volume to a pixel on the meter: still too loud. Yet, out of my speakers the volume is just great.
For some reason the audio only shows as active on the left on the meter, yet I get audio in both channels.
Doesn't prompt you for sampling rate. Who the heck knows what it is?
Strange how Audacity records horribly with the Realtek HD audio setup, yet it doesn't complain at all with the simplistic CDeX application. Next thing I should try is with SoundForge and the incredibly crude Soundrec Windows app.
As for workflow, Audacity is still bad. Wow is this program stupid at times. It's like a bad knockoff of SoundForge.
