I love my vinyl and CD collections, but I just moved and after two days of loading and unloading this stuff (furniture included) I don't know if I can go through that again.

70 lb boxes of vinyl and 50 lb boxes of CD's can just kind of suck the life right out of you when you see them sitting there in the back of the moving truck waiting for you to carry them 60 yards up and down steps to the basement below. Anybody else ever had a big move and taken their massive vinyl collection with them? It is ridiculous. I am starting to question my collection at the moment.

In 1989, I moved from Ontario to B.C. for business reasons. It was to be a 'permanent' move, but only lasted a year due to bungling on the part of the company ownership. Packing up thousands of lps & eps is no small task if you want them to be in one piece once the movers are done with them.

Having to do it again 11 months later was something I wasn't up for. I gave some away, sold a bunch to used record shops and returned with about half of what I started with.

One of the dumber decisions I've made in my life.

The best thing about moving is handling your entire collection, getting re-acquainted with it. Lovingly packing and organizing the boxes. It makes me feel good, anyway. Yeah, it's work.

If you sold them to Zulu, I may have some of your old records . Holy shit, I remember all the cool 80s records they had in the early 90s, when people were dumping their vinyl collection. I only wish I had more money to buy everything. It was hard enough trying to keep up with all the cool DE/BE techno 12"es coming out when all I had was a crappy retail job.
