Record stores in New York

Postby goutroy » Thu Sep 15, 2005 8:56 am

So... I will be taking a trip to New York to visit some friends (and watch a taping of The Daily Show, woohoo!) and want to dedicate a day or two to record shopping. Does anyone know of any good stores in NYC? Or Long Island? Or basically anything that is accessable by LIRR or the Subway.
The types of stores I especially like:
Dingy old stores whose stock from the 80s hasn't been touched in years.
Out-of-the-way or suburban stores that few people visit but that have a decent amount of records.
Stores that have 50000+ records.
Stores that stock 80s rarities and obscurities.
Huge stores that have fast turnover of records.
Stores that have crates upon crates upon crates of records.
And any other record store that you can think of that has 80s new wave records!

Excellent, thanks! I'll be sure to check as many of those out as possible. Anyone else know more good used record stores in and around NYC?

Are these still the best? Any updates or additions if I go to NYC?

Tower Records is advertising 50% off singles, 30% off dvds.
