Oh, just you wait until I go through my 12" collection and get some Extended Remixes and Bonus Beats for you. DJ Jizzbomb will be rockin' the house once he gets his hands on those!

The Numark sounds like a pretty sweet deal - simple.
I don't need it as I can hook my Stantons up to my M Audio keyboard (has builtin soundcard) --of course this may be easier said than done as I havent tried it yet....I need to get it together, as I've reached a stop-gap with P to P sites...(they have run out of mp3s I'm searching for...)

My method is a bit different: Technics 1200 to ancient Sanyo receiver (for phono in to RCA out), to Pioneer receiver, into a stand alone Pioneer CD recorder. I just burn the vinyl to an Audio CD-RW (for CD-recorders) and use this to get the files to my computer. I then transfer them to MP3, burn a cheap CD-R copy (of the cd not the mp3's) for backup, and re-use the CD-RW.

The stand alone CD recorder is also handy for those pesky copy-protected CD's.....

I also burn cassettes or vinyl initially to a standalone CD Burner. I have Phillips, Sony and JVC units. I make what I call my "master" CD of just the straight vinyl or LP burn, and then make my CD-R from these masters, and then from my final CD-R I upload to my PC. I always have a CD master of the cassette or vinyl, plus a CD-R made from this, plus what is in my PC after upload. I only upload at 320. To me, they sound great, but I am sure there are people with much greater skill and knowledge and equipment than me that could make them even better.

Ok so I bought my USB turntable, it's very cool. But I'm confused how to turn it into a MP3. I downloaded a "lame" conversion thing, but it doesn't want to acknowledge my Audacity projects. Any suggestions?

So, Coop, you never did tell us how the USB turntable panned out as a means of doing vinyl rips -- what's the quality like?

It's ease of use is amazing and the quality of rips, for my ears, is excellent!! It comes with Audacity which is more labor intensive than other software and, thanks to eight6, I have since moved on to other software that is better but I'm still working on mastering it!

The only problem is, since I got it, the amount of vinyl I have purchased is ridiculous!!! [:D]

Man....I need one of those! I covet Coop's new toy!

I just dragged 5 orange crates of lps & 12 inchers from one closet to another. I really need to get this stuff digitalized. $150 isn't a bad price either. Glad to hear it's easy to use.

I had to revive this thread, as I just ordered an ion usb turntable. Can't wait to get it! I know it's a cheap turntable, but supposedly they work pretty well. At $75 I couldn't resist.

You may even find yourself buying vinyl again...I've got a 10" BSP single on pre-order. A 10"! When's the last time you ordered one of these?! [:p]
