Not to rain on DM'69's parade, but I never thought of Men at Work as new wave. Quirky and fun and good but not new wave. I always thought of them as a mainstream band sort of a Monkey's of the 80's. Am I alone in this? Your thoughts?

I don't see how the 2 bands can even be compared. To me there is no similarity aside from the names.

MAW were a good pop band, I've never owned any of their records, although I do smile when I hear them.

Mw/oH are great synth-pop. If you've only h

Men Without Hats - Utter Space, man, Utter Space, THE best track they ever recorded, IMO. New wave in its best form.

Agree, Colin Hay's solo material is outstanding, and I would highly recommend it. His acoustic material is very nice, and he will work

Dang - I've never heard Utter Space. Looks like it was on just about every MWOH recording that I don't have. I'll have to work on that...

Maybe MAW wasn't really a new wave band, but they certainly had a few songs that could be considered new wave ("

Hey Mike, maybe you can put Men Without Hats Utter Space track as a song of the week. It is pretty rare, only having been on folk of the 80s early EP, and such a perfect new wave song.

Can anyone comment on MWH's latest CD, "No Hats Beyond This Point"?

I always thought of them as relative second-stringers in the whole New Wave scheme of things. However, I can still pull out an old Men Without Hats LP and enjoy it, whereas Men at Work just doesn't do anything for me.
