The Go-Go's "Beauty and the Beat." I was in 3rd grade and had to save up my allowance to buy the cassette. I think from that day forward, every dime I earned as a kid went into music. Well, music and hair care supplies. It was the 80s after all.

I'm pretty sure that my first New Wave album was the first B-52's album, although I've also had Talking Heads '77 for some time.

GEMCO! LOL. I think I placed 3rd in the Gemco-sponsored high-school economics scholarship contest back in '82. I live next to the one in Cerritos. I got $50!!! Now THAT's economic.

Do The Cars count?
If not, then I would have to say Devo. That would have been the Christmas of 1979. I remember getting their second album as a Christmas present (I wanted their first Q: "Are we not Men") but was happy again after listening to it.

Talking Heads:77 was also the earliest I remember owning. I did also have several BeBop Deluxe albums, though I never considered that New Wave.

I was a DJ at a college radio station 1977-1981, and got to see lots of New Wave before it was called that

I would say The Cars count.

My first NW LP's were:
The Cars debut
Elvis Costello's first
Joe Jackson's first
The Police's first
Devo's debut
B52's First

I had some of this stuff on 8 track tape!
