SMARTEST LYRICS EVER!

Postby XTC » Wed Jun 11, 2003 12:37 pm

This is the second song that Andy Partridge from XTC has shown some icky feelings to ROADS and Highways the first was "Roads girdle the globe" from DRUMS and WIRES. This guy ROCKS! XTC in my book has always had the BEST lrics ...though for me lyrics are NOT ALWAYS that IMPORTANT!...I'm also a big Cocteau Twins fan... Do they use words?...sure but it would NOT matter cuz the music is BEAUTIFUL, and soothing!

Take a packet of seeds
Take yourself out to play
I want to see River of Orchids where we had a motorway

Push your car from the road

Just like a mad dog you're chasing your tail in a circle
It's all in your back yard
You've the whole world at your feet
I said the grass is always greener when it bursts up through concrete

Push your car from the road

River of Orchids winding our way
Want to walk into London on my hands one day
River of Orchids the road overgrows
Want to walk into London smelling like a Peckham beggar rose

I had a dream where the car is reduced to a fossil
Take a packet of seeds
Get yourself out to play
I want to see River of Orchids where we had a motorway

Push your car... | It's all in your back yard...
Push your car... | Take a packet of seeds...

( I must admit...at first I thought they said "pick up some seeds..TAKE YOUR CELL PHONE TO PAY...that would have been cool too. )

David Sylvian (From Brilliant Trees)

Pulling Punches

If heaven watches over me
Sowing seeds back in the soil
With eyes that see, hands that feel
Why am I the last to know

Sheltered lives spent partially breathing
Are gathered together under

When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life blow wilder than before

XTC, Actualy the Homo Safari Series was more of ...electro percussian ambient.Mostly on EP's. The Roger Eno Stuff is very much like channel Light Vessel but without the female vocals and certain amount of ..quirkiness?..Very Cool, very different.

Rose Red meets...Harold Budd and the Cocteau Twins?Hey do you have that Budd and Cocteau???

I'm struck by the insidious, computer-driven tendency to take things out of the domain of muscular activity and put them into the domain of mental activity.
