Paul Weller Mean Streets Robert DiNero

Postby Quite Life » Tue Sep 16, 2003 9:46 pm

Is it my imagination or does Bobby DiNero have the Paul Weller circa '79 look in Martin Scorsese's first and IMO best film Mean Streets?

Granted Mean Strees 1973 came out way befor the Jam (in the city 1977) But really struck me was the pool room fight where this big fat guy says to this little guy (part of Harvey Kietel's entourage) "your a mook" and the little guy says "whats a mook" then pow the pool room fight begins. It is at this seen that it hits me Robert DeNiro looks just like Paul Weller circa 1979(just month after Setting Sons and months before the Jam blow up the world with Going Underground, Start and the Sound Effects LP). DeNero's character Johnny Boy looks like the guy playing the Rickenbacher and singing on the Jam. Also ckeck out the seen where Johnny Boy walks into the bar in slow motion with the Stones "Jumping Jack Flash" playing in the back ground I kinda looks like Paul Weller with a pork pie hat.

Just an observation do you concur?
