Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has any band suggestions for me. You seem to know what you are talking about here, most of the time... Im "only" 24 and from Norway, so I have probably missed out on a lot of the good music, so I need to fill in the gaps. If you like the following bands and think you have any suggestions on something I might like, I will be forever grateful. :-)
Anyway, some of my favorite bands:

Cure
Ride
Depeche Mode
Cocteau Twins
Chameleons
XTC
Boards of Canada
Kraftwerk
Stranglers
Brian Eno
Killing Joke( mostly Night time and brighter...)
Blur
Felt
Talking Heads
Duran duran
Japan
Crowded house
Fischer-Z
Chapterhouse
Jesus & Mary Chain
Julian Cope
A-ha
Wire
Lightning seeds
Slowdive
Echo&the Bunnymen
Love & Rockets
Gary Numan
Boo radleys
Smiths
and the list goes on and on...

Not all new wave but...
What Im really looking for is bands/artists that are not as well known(as the above) so that I can impress my mates. :-) I have an impression that many great bands have been almost forgotten along the way. So, any suggestions?

Eirik, Norway

P.S.(Goodbye): Check out the band Zoot Woman, best retro 80s Ive heard so far!

You name your topic after one of the most brilliant albums ever released by The Chameleons and then fail to include them in your list?

FOR SHAME!

Hey Dancingmonkey;
I really liked the Faint and Stellastarr which you mentioned in another topic. Any more? Oh, been a fan of Joy Divison for about ten years, just forgot too mention them.

You're from Norway? Definitely check out the Norwegian band Fra Lippo Lippi. Their early material was influenced by the Cure, Joy Division, and Wire. I love that band. Click on:

I got into this band thanks to Come Summer. That song is great!!

Icehouse - Icehouse : That song had the coolest synth bass line!

a-ha are one of my favorite New Wave groups. I think people tend to dismiss them because of "Take On Me" but they had wonderful synth-pop songs like "Living a Boy's Adventure Tale" and "Train of Thought" on their first LP. "Hunting High and Low" is a gorg

Nice to see folk here giving Aha their dues. Morten is totally undervalued as a vocalist. "Lifelines" is the best album of this decade so far, I'd recommend them live too.

Couldn't agree more. 'We' (members of a-ha's U.S. Street Team) are hard at work trying to bring these guy back over to the U.S. market. We hold an annual fan gathering as well, which is quite successful. With any luck we'll hear from the band stateside
