'80s Hell

Postby Spaz » Sun Dec 07, 2003 11:27 am

Here's the scenario:

You've been a bad person all of your life (cheating, boozing, murder, etc.). One day, someone rigs your car to explode when you start it. Needless to say, you are blown to bits. You do NOT go to heaven, you go to HELL! Since Satan runs the place and he respects you for the evil you did on earth, he sets up a penthouse in HELL for you, complete with your own personal '80s jukebox! Once you unpack your belongings, you grab a couple of quarters and head to the jukebox to play some fab '80s tunes.
The catch here is that you are in hell, so the jukebox has your most hated '80s tunes on it! Which tunes would be on that jukebox? Here's some of the songs that would be on my
'80S JUKEBOX FROM HELL!!!!!

"Too Shy" KAJAGOOGOO (or KAKADOODOO, as we used to call them)
"Politics Of Dancing" REFLEX
"The Fanatic" FELONY
"Sex (I'm A)" BERLIN
"Give" MISSING PERSONS

That's just a taste....

What would be on your '89s JUKEBOX FROM HELL?

Geez, pretty provocative lists with Cabaret Volatire, Cure, and Joy Division on there. If we all combined our personal dislikes, it would probably include every new wave song, and everyone else would conclude that the 80s basically sucked. This is way out

myirwin's got a pretty good point there; if enough people respond we're likely to see just about every new wave song mentioned as hated as well as liked; I just didn't think about it that way. Anyway, that's my list, but at least there aren't THAT many

Yikes, a lot of my favorite songs are on these lists. I must be a loser.

Some songs I like are on those lists also. On a side note I sometimes feel "nostaligic" about a song that I know is really a crappy cheezy song. I remember actually liking "I Eat Cannibals" by Total Coelo, after hearing 20 years later I really hate it.

I guess Hell should be a deeply personal thing.
I would say anything by Adam and the Ants and Adam Ant.
The songs themselves are only marginally stinky, but the lyrics are downright embarrassing. I can't even listen to them.

I don't particualrly care for direction of some of the recent negative topics.I actually kind of fed into the "Songs you hate" topic but regreted afterwards.I know and respect this as an open forum for new wave topics, but shouldn't it be more as to why yo

Not knocking the topic (it is fun to detect lousy music) but I have to agree with the last few comments - - I think the whole idea is to bring together people with a mutual inexplicably bizarre love of new wave and the like. When someone mentions a song

If you don't like the topic the don't post in the thread.
If you want to start a "Juke Boxes in Heaven" then do it.

Crapping on other threads is WAY more rude folks; what are you, the feel-good Nazis?

Personally, I LIKE this thread. I like the subj
