New Wave Album Cover

Postby bpdp3 » Tue Dec 16, 2003 11:00 am

I'm amazed if this topic hasn't come up yet, but... if they (whoever 'they' ever are) were putting together a time capsule and you were asked to include the album cover that best conveys new wave, what would it be and why???

There are so many great ones (and a lot of lousy ones, too, I guess)to pick from, but I'm going with the B-52's debut. Why?

-the glaring gaudy colors
-the kitschy feel of the cover design
-the band name ("the ______" such a big part of early new wave)
-the members on the cover look inviting and dangerous at the same time

Ooh, that IS a great topic. Off the top of my head, Culture Club's Colour By Numbers and Missing Persons' Spring Session M with Dale Bozio's iconic visage both scream NEW WAVE. But panning back out to include Punk, I gotta pick Never Mind the Bullocks - i

Off the top of my head I'd have to agree with the B-52's debut and throw in Wild Planet.

You picked a winner... I can't think of a better one than the B-52's. But for some reason, Candy-O still holds a special place in my heart.
