Darling, we're the Young Ones

Postby bpdp3 » Sat Dec 20, 2003 9:16 pm

The last couple of topics discussing new wave nostalgia got me thinking of this British TV show, the Young Ones - - - wonder how many of you knew it. It aired on MTV late at night, I think Sunday nights, in the mid-80's.

Featured 4 guys: Neil the hippy, Mike the pervert, Vivian the Punk/Motorhead type, and Rick the 'sissy' new waver. Rick always wanted to bring about political change, and I remember him wanting to write the lead singer of Echo and the Bunnymen to start a revolution. "Dear Mr. Echo...."

Every episode featured a band - - I recall seeing Rip Rag and Panic, 9 Below Zero, Madness, the Damned... anyone have memories of this show?? Very screwball British humor....

That's Rick, with a silent "p".

You can buy a 3 DVD set called "Every Stupid Episode" which, surprisingly enough, has every stupid episode.

I own the DVD set. It is certainly worth the price I paid for it, which is nothing. Actually, it is quite funny in spots, it's just not as funny as I remember it being when I was 14.

Ah The Young Ones. I loved the way bands just appeared in the middle of show. Some great performances. Madness and Motorhead stand out for me.
